<div class="IPBDescription">A web dev question</div> I am working on a website for my business (351studios.com). I need your help with something. I know that there are some web devs out there. The site I am working on is for a guy running for state senate in MN. What he needs is a good online donation system. First thought, paypal. Unfortunately there are catches. Legally I need name, address, number, whether they are a citizen (req US citizenship), employer name, and they cannot donate more than 200 dollars. I don't think Paypal has ways to do custom fields that are required to donate. I would prefer not to do this all myself, write a cgi script, and set up my own credit card reading stuff... Do you guys know of a good way to do any of this? Or is paypal as limited as I am seeing? Thoughts and questions, post em here.

i don't know if paypal is limited but if you want credit card payment on your website:

there are service companies out there handling the transaction and providing the tools for you. You submit the transaction data (credit card number, name, amount, etc.) to the service providers via ssl or other protocols and get return data if the transaction can be processed. The service provider does also the bank transactions for you (charging the credit card and transfers it to your bank account.

Try googling "donation service." I found a wealth of information at my fingertips!!!!! Thank you internet. All sarcasm aside, I did some research back in the day about setting up credit card processing for a for-profit internet business a while ago, and I can tell you that for a small business (or small campaign like this) it would probably be worth it to stick with package services like paypal or other. Setting up and figuring out all of the information necessary is a hassle.
