Basically the guy surgically inserted magnets into his arm/finger. I really can't understand the whole article but it seems he did it as an experimentation into human senses.
Main point is that he is able to feel magnetic waves now. For example he passes through an anti-theft device, he can feel the magnetic waves there. When he operates a can opener, he can feel the electric motor moving.
Kinda macarbe and also useless as well i feel. The lengths ppl go for art.

= wuss.
Haha, that = win.
That's just odd, either way. could possibly have its uses..but..meh. I imagine he'll get himself attached to a large junkyard magnet some day. [brave little toaster reference here].
<i>"There are two distinct feelings I get from fields. For a static field, like a bar magnet, it feels like a smooth pressure. Imagine running your hand slowly through lukewarm water, and brushing your finger across the top of a large invisible marshmallow. That is the closest description I can give. Oscillating fields, such as electric motors, security devices, transformers, et cetera, vibrate the magnet. This sensation is much more sensitive and noticeable."</i>
so yeah... luke warm water. looks cool, i think i want to get me one of these implants <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
ya thats what i was kinda thinking. what if he wanted to pick up any kind of magnet sensitive object?
That is waaayyyy too cool. WAY TOO COOL.
(also, arctica gains three bajillion points for Brave Little Toaster reference)
It'll just be ripped out of his finger. Yay!
Don't let him NEAR your computer or risk getting your hard drive erased <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I want to get one of those large invisible marshmallows!
Mmmmm... marshmallows <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
But yeah, that is kinda... weird... I couldn't see myself ever doing something like that...

yea my fingers go near to many floppys and hard drives for that to be safe inside me....
Plus its just wierd, though quite cool, ill give u that. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Next step is to put electromagnets into ur fingers that are powered off blood sugar and can be turned on and off with your brain. All of the sudden your 'sense' would be a 'power'.
RISE MAGNETO!
*jumps on to refridgerator*

but how can that be much different from putting magnets on each side of your finger? I don't feel magnetic waves that way.

I don't think he means being able to feel the magnetic waves flowing through his finger or any such nonsense. I think he just means that he can feel magnetic forces because his finger is attracted or repelled to\from them.
I was thinking the same thing.

Oh ouch. o__0
:: Edit ::
Spacer takes the cake.
To the Magnetobile!
