<div class="IPBDescription">surgically</div> <a href='http://www.bmezine.com/news/pubring/20040226.html' target='_blank'>http://www.bmezine.com/news/pubring/20040226.html</a>

Basically the guy surgically inserted magnets into his arm/finger. I really can't understand the whole article but it seems he did it as an experimentation into human senses.

Main point is that he is able to feel magnetic waves now. For example he passes through an anti-theft device, he can feel the magnetic waves there. When he operates a can opener, he can feel the electric motor moving.

Kinda macarbe and also useless as well i feel. The lengths ppl go for art.

    Haha, that = win.

That's just odd, either way. could possibly have its uses..but..meh. I imagine he'll get himself attached to a large junkyard magnet some day. [brave little toaster reference here].

why would he feel magnetic waves? it's not like the magnets are fusionned with his organism.

no, he feels them like passing his hand through a field, as he said

<i>"There are two distinct feelings I get from fields. For a static field, like a bar magnet, it feels like a smooth pressure. Imagine running your hand slowly through lukewarm water, and brushing your finger across the top of a large invisible marshmallow. That is the closest description I can give. Oscillating fields, such as electric motors, security devices, transformers, et cetera, vibrate the magnet. This sensation is much more sensitive and noticeable."</i>

so yeah... luke warm water. looks cool, i think i want to get me one of these implants <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Next step is to put electromagnets into ur fingers that are powered off blood sugar and can be turned on and off with your brain. All of the sudden your 'sense' would be a 'power'.

I don't think he means being able to feel the magnetic waves flowing through his finger or any such nonsense. I think he just means that he can feel magnetic forces because his finger is attracted or repelled to\from them.

Think about it. If you hold your keys in your hands(unless theyre plastic or something) and theres a large electromagnet under your hand, you'd feel the keys being pulled towards the magnet, right? This is the same thing, except since it's inside the body, it doesn't need as strong a pull for him to feel it - the magnets get pulled right onto his nerves, instead of for example onto his skin.
