    Now I'm even more convinced.

For the record, I was saying that comparing a student to a nation is blatently absurd.

is a country nothing more then a composition of individuals? so why is comparing an individual to a country so strange?

I refuse to believe you're actually being serious, for the good of my own sanity. Thus, I'm leaving the discussion to (hopefully) die a natural death, and plead others to do the same.

No, you simply propose a system that would drastically decrease the average functional capacity of the nations youth. That is not what I would call improvement.

Improve variety and choice in available classes, (Which would happen, if there was more funding) Reduce the Homework load (If its not worth my time in class to learn it, is it worth my time out of class?) And if possible, increase the teacher to student ratio, as smaller classes are simply more enjoyable to both teach, and learn in.

Problem is, all these would require more funding.
Where is the funding going to come from?
    Not Bush, thats for sure.

my idea enables all those things without the need for funding

the class size would be 1 to 1 with my system

    1 to 1?

    Student to Computer?
    Student to Teacher?
    Student to other student?

Student to computer? Sure, assuming you get the resources for the computer, and it stays operational.

Studet to teacher? Not 1:1. Even if you had 1 teacher per 50 students it wouldnt be enough, because dealing with 1 student takes time, and that is time not spend helping a different student.

Student to Student? Im lazy. Lazy people arent the best "Why should I help out some snot-nosed brat, that cant wrap his head around this insignificant problem? Screw that, Im going home."

And another problem, How to deal with subjectively graded material, like papers? If you're reduced teaching staff is busy with students all day, and then has the workload from an expanded student body all submitting papers, when are they supposed to deal with it? I know I sure as hell wouldnt want to be a teacher in your school system.

Eh, because Australia didn't need Britain to supervise it to make sure no one came along, picked up Australia, and ran off with it? Or did you miss the part where Scloom said:
    <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->lots of computers - supervision = lots of stolen computers.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I don't see how Australia can be stolen like a computer.

No it'd be 1 to None.
Computer programs DO NOT WORK. Take it from someone who actually had to it for a year. It's a waste of time. School is supposed to be a social and educational experience. You can't exactly have a class discussion with a stinking box.
And just because you have a few stupid teachers doesn't mean you can put the few that exist out of a job because you didn't get the best teacher in the world. I've had some amazing teachers and some horrid ones but I still appreciate the need for teachers.

Also the more funding crowd. Right now more than anything the parents of the students need to start raising their kids instead of letting the school do it. Throwing money at the problem won't do anything as it will just be squandered

Ideally this would be best solution, but this is unprobable. Private schools will have this luxury, but public schools will probably have less teachers/student in the future. Maybe a next government will raise taxes and make cuts on military for benefit of education, but I doubt it will happen.
In university where we have 200+ students in lectures I see that teacher are unmotivated and many of the students are ignoring the teaching. Well there are some teacher that are motivated and tell us to SUYF if we're chatting in class. Personally I think we need something to help the workload of teachers. Computers could be big help in this, we just need education programs that are equally informative and fun. It would be great if we could get more teachers but with the limited resources I say computers would be cheapest way to improve education, we just lack good programs that serve all variety of students.
