How To Run Ns Server?

Well, I downloaded the 3.0 and 3.0.3 files but where am I supposed to unzip them? The Files page says my half life server directory but I don't think I have one.. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Well I did everything that guide said, but when I type stat it says:

" Can't "stat", not connected "

for a dedicated server, you only need UDP port 27015 open. if you open those other ports, it just opens up ports that could possibly allow a hacker to get in.

Where do I put that?

Anyways..I'm thinking of just giving up on this thing, I thought it would be easier than this (kinda like setting up a hlds for valve games)

i have never had a problem with only having port 27015 open. the udp port and the tcp ports other than 27015 are for the steam friends list and communicating with the steam master server. they are not needed

You forgot your +map ns_hera

note: it doesn't have to be ns_hera, that it just off the top of my head.
