A brush based entity called func_conveyor with a scroll texture, in the case of hera's scrolling texture. It's called 'scrollred'
All textures which start with scroll can be used for this. They will automaticly scroll from left to right. The speed is controlled by the settings in the func_conveyor, the direction is controlled by the rotation of the texture. Also if you don't want it to push you in the direction it scrolls check the flag 'no push'

Well I see no reason for an entity not doing it's job if you use one of it's textures for lighting. As far as I know lighting has nothing to do with a texture it's animation, it will only make the lighted face brighter.
Don't feel like testing it since it's pretty easy to check it out for yourself <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Why not just ask me on Teamspeak omlette? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

As far as I'm aware, having it lights.rad won't affect the ent. Although the entire ent will cast light, not just the red parts on the texture. Although so you know only the red part will be visible, just as it would normally (if you have it set up with additive).
