First Time Paintballing
<div class="IPBDescription">and god was it fun</div> So I just got back from my first ever PaintBall trip (yesterday).
I am sore in places I didn't know could be sore.
And I can't wait to go again.
The place we went to was SkirmishUSA (rather cool, place, alot of different types of fields, and the refs we had were great)
we played on standard woodsball fields, castles, "black hawk down", "Hood in the Woods" (urbanish area), and a speed ball field.
Of all of the games Woodsball was deffinatly the best, hiding and waiting for some poor fool to come ofr our flag.... *evil laugh*
Now that I am deffinatly getting into this I was wondering a few things:
1) Any one know some good fields realy close to NYC?
2) Can people make recomendations on guns/retailers (I am just looking, but one of my friends realy wants to buy one now).
<!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
(and oh god am I sore and outa shape <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

I dont know about good fields around NYC, try www.pbreview.com great place to look around for basically everything. Fields, guns, paint, etc. They also have a forum that has a strat section as stuff.
If you like woodsball the best kind of gun to get would probly, be a tippman 98 or a5. I ref at a field we use the 98's as our rentals. Great gun, has a few problem that I dont like, ie no drop forward and its stock barrel is lacking. But its the ak-47 of paintball. Its tough as nails. The a5 is more expensive, but I think worth it. It has a built in agiataing hopper and it wont ever chop while still maintaining the tippmann indestructability. Look around www.pbreview.com.
Super awesome site for ordering Paintball Gear.
Anyway, yes paintball is the winnage. But speedball is even more winnage once you've got the <a href='http://www.actionvillage.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=ZjWa5XuEPxGakjnpD35aTXEi2Zrj7JY_kAg=?ProductID=xG%2esFAY7PFwAAAD8ufRKIQQu' target='_blank'>super awesome fast gun</a>. Keep on playin'!
Thansel it just gets better man, it just gets better, oh the bad news is that your muscles ache just as much the second time.
For your first marker I suggest anything but the high dollar markers. In the long run you can decide for yourself what you desire.
Up in the north if you plan to play when it's cold it's good to have an expansion chamber if your marker is using CO2, but if you like the idea of using a remote(coiled hose that delivers the gas to the marker) than that can be substituted for the expansion chamber.
Aside from a consistancy boost you will be saving some money on CO2 by using an expansion chamber or remote(few more usable shots per bottle with a remote).
yah, speed ball is fun, but not as fun as woods (kinda like taking a round or 2 of CS just for the heck of it).
If I do stick with it I probably will be buying a Tippman with the flat line barrel.
One of my major gripes was I kept on getting these WONDERFUL open shots with out poeple having a clue I was there.
but between the field gun (tippmann 98) and the balls (realy crap zap paint) I couldn't hit squat (even with just letting rip from a stable position).
On the note of the zapcrap balls. The filed listened to us complain and gave us a bunch of free casses of midnight to make it up (and they are gona be bauling out zap for the crap paint. The seems were horrible, etc). So deffinate plus for the field.
And our refs rocked. (we were the first group out there, and the last group to leave, they had us on field all the time, getting us the best fields as much as possible <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->).
I personally have a tippy 98c (custom just means there are slightly more upgrade options then plain 98). I have the lame stock barrel only 'cuase i haven't gotten around to getting a new one yet. Once I do, a sniper barrel and dbl trigger are mine. An A5 would pwn, but I don't play enough to get a new gun yet. If my 98c ever wears out (key word: ever, these things are built like a rock) I'll get something. Maybe a new tippy will be out by then.
I love picking people off when they don't know I am there.
The number of times I picked a spot so that the opfor would always take up positions that they though 'covered' them, yet still gave me full view <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
hehe.
I went through my bruisses.
a total of 4, all on my legs (3 on my right thigh(. the last actualy came from walking by a field that another group was on... got nailed in the calf <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Can't wait for my Dynasty Shocker, I traded my Proto Matrix for it. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Behold my gun that will put a paintball somewhere on your face within a football field's length distance.
Yea, its a flatline barrel, couldent get it all in the shot. Crappy camera <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I think we have another convert. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yay for you Thansal!
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->flatline barrel<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Of course. Tippmann + flatline = suberb combo
PS: I think a dream game would be to have all of the people from the NS forums play in one big paintball game. All several thousand of you. <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Now if I only had the money to go out and actually play with the damn thing...
You're kidding? I just went paintballing the first time yesterday too. Me and some friends drove up to the mountains (I'm in Denver) found a good wooded/rocky area, set up a sort of basecamp and then they all got pwned with nubishness.
We had crappy paintballs, and they kept breaking in the barrels, it was cold and raining, but it was the funest thing I've ever done.
Of course you could always play <a href='http://www.digitalpaintball.net/' target='_blank'>this paintball</a>... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Only if I can get a grenade launcher, firing water ballons full of paint, or whatever the paintball equivilent of a grenade is...
I got seriously shamed when I went paintballing. Mate's stag day, and I got shot in the side of the head several times by a 10-year old.
It's the only time I've ever been knocked out without it involving some skates...
make sure those little buggers don't put it on full auto and/or put it over 300 fips.
I got hit numerous times in the head (gotta learn to keep my head down <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->) and barely felt most of them (and alot of these were from good guns, often rather close).
I think it is a good hobby gets you out good exercise
Shame it can eat your wallet <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I'd like paintball more if the guns were more accurate and restricted to a slower fire rate. As it stands, I prefer laser tag. More bang for the buck, especially a midnight to dawn session <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
That aside I didn't really get hit much I suppose and while the guns were wildly inaccurate I got a good few people out (though for the first time in any game I managed to friendly fire someone :s ).
We did all kinds of scenarios and stuff but the last match (the one where I ran out of ammo) was just a free-for-all fight till you drop/run dry in an open field. Fun but exhausting, specially if you dodge lots and you're one of the last 3 people out of 20 :3
That is where most of the painful shots came from.
I aparently nearly hit some one on my team (couldn't tell b/c of the inacuracy of the gun/paint combo)
First time was to see how it felt, and the second to commit suacide.
I was defending the fort thingy, that was a suitable rock formation fortified with rotting logs and other things like that, and I had 1 ball left, I didn't want to be captured by the enimie so I shot myself and screamed in agony, and then was called a dumba** by 11 other people, it was fun.
<!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Of course, all the noobies think that fast guns are full auto. I don't go one day reffing at my field without hearing a doofus remark like that.
