Kouji, the first screenshot was eliminated to make way for the next one. (Number 2)

I'll fix the boxes, but the attitude here is that the base was abandoned hurriedly and that everything was left in "emergency mode" (red) and also because they are on a red planet. Red is the defining tone here.

I will put a lot of your thoughts into consideration however.

And the final one. However, I am having a HUGE problem.

For no apparent reason, my lights coming through the windows/sunroofs no longer work! Everything was fine until one unfortunate compile later, none of it worked. Its baffling.

There is SUPPOSED to be light coming from that opening in the ceiling, but its not working.

Anyone gimme a hand?

Recoup, grab all the floor faces that are meant to have the same texture alignment, check 'treat as one' then make x and y alignment 0.

[edit] about the light, i can see some red splashing onto the rocks, so i think it is working.

If it was working I would be able to see the colors splashing onto the floor from the cut-out. Its not working correctly, especially since ALL of the windows ceased to work.

Im getting Belg's assistance in the matter so I can go over this much more smoothly.

Actually, now that I've gotten a chance to see a compiled version, it looks to me as if it is working. You can see the slightly red bars of light on the floor there. Not to mention the red on the rocks up there Olmy mentioned. It looks just fine to me.

Imo either trim the floor section or change its texture (1st of the 2 you just posted) that texture tends to look horrible on big surfaces.

I can see the red light aswell, its not very prominant but it is there.
other than that it looks nice, kinda dark though._

But Beeeeeelg...

Listen, it may look as if its working here, but none of the OTHER windows are working. So the room behind it with the huge sunroof doesnt do it, and the one before that doesnt do it, and the hallway doesnt allow those streams of awesome light in!

I put the light_spot above the ceiling in the "sky" box, set it to sky, the color, pitch of -90, and that doesnt do anything apparently.

Are you using really old compile tools? If so it may be the case that the light environment only applies to the vis leaf it was placed in. More likely however, is that the light is working, its just hard to see in other places.

The compile tools are as up-to-date as possible. What baffled me is that they worked before I messed with that room, and now they dont work after I apparently did something with it.

Another chunk I'm working on. Very unrefined, and very ugly, but it's getting there!

That floor texture looks awful, use something that has more form, and make the lines follow the curve if you get my meaning.

It appears that there IS lighting coming from your sky brushes, but you should know if a brush intended to be used as the sky has any other textures on them it wont generate light.

All faces of a brush used as the sky need to be textured with the sky texture, or atleast all other faces not used textured with NULL. Otherwise you only see the sky(usefull in some applications)

I would suggest raising the height of the sky and increasing the brightness some.

dito.
and the frist shoot looked weird anyways. the green light seemed pretty out of place.

keep in mind that you will have to place a light_environment or light_spot for every separated skybrush.

as of some update a loooong time ago you only need 1 light_environment
• N_RecoupN_Recoup Join Date: 2005-01-17 Member: 36126Members
The green light has been replaced with a red light, and I know I need only 1 light_env.
