my favorite part is the cpu heatsink+fan combo. Took a decent 80mm thermaltake heatsink, used an adapter and dropped a 120mm fan on it <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Lian Li is expensive, but its sturdy, light, stulish without looking over the top, and extremely easy to change parts or open.

Only a few changes from that shot: The sides are off (Permanately, got squished in a fit of audio related rage) new power supply (no more black and yellow cables) new dvd burner, and a good few inches of rust on the outsides

Headcrab, do you, by any chance, live in a 1950s Yorkshire mining village?

I've always tot it be kewl to mod a PC-Case.

But a good argrument I have heard against modding a PC-Case is the fact tht majority of the time it is under your table or sumwhere like tht where ppl wont c it.

Anyone care to provide a counter-agrument to that?

Put it on TOP of your table?
  • DaJMastaDaJMasta Join Date: 2005-01-10 Member: 34750Members, Constellation
my response. No space under table, everyone sees it anyways <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

but it can still look spiffy and sound nice. And if your getting top notch components, may as well get something to show em off. Like getting a V8 in a stationwagon or something, it just seems better when its in a sports car.

Just a question....are steel cases better than aluminum cases (besides the fact that they are uber heavy)?
  • AllUrHiveRblong2usAllUrHiveRblong2us By Your Powers Combined... Join Date: 2002-12-20 Member: 11244Members
They're a lot harder to drill/cut into and mod, does that mean better?

Aluminum is a lot better because of its thermal properties.

That's why you see copper AND aluminum heatsinks and <i>not</i> steel heatsinks.
  • DaJMastaDaJMasta Join Date: 2005-01-10 Member: 34750Members, Constellation
Mr. Radical speaks the truth, aluminum is lighter and cools better (especially when thick) but is more expensive, so many cases are still steel.

Aye, I've got a giant server case for mine. It's got like 6 external 5.25, 2 external 3.5, and 4 internal hard drive bays. It has little wheels on it, kinda cool. Sits about inch and half from the bottom of my desk (closer if I move it and it hasn't sunk into the carpet).

Though I'm going to build another computer, and think I'm going to use a Lian-Li PC60usb case for it.
