sorry cant be nice about this but i cant find any intelligent aliens on any public servers i mean im begining to wonder if some of the public crawling aliens are high or just incredibly stupid. they hurl themselves endlessly at jetpacking HMGers without rhyme or reason and with each piling corpse make my chances of killign that now lvl 11 marine slimmer and slimmer. In ns mode words like "1 and a half rt node" or "last hive" elicit no response from the drooling ADHD "uberskulks" i cringe when i hear "our hive is dying" but literaly they dont even turn around to see which one it is. all the time i see completed siege bases with everythign they could need to own our hive set up even a friggign armory without it beign discovered hell half the time they put it up IN the hive becasue the one skulk who spawns while they are doing it is shot, respawns, and goes about his buisness without sayign a word.

so seriously dont give me a server name ive been to and you know is filled with assclowns. im sure its a great server in fact i love that little plugin you have that sends me to marine when i pick alien /sarcastic because... *$!@... you know? =) who the hell am I!? to decide what i want to spend my time and my steamkey doing? /sarcastic off

but anyway please if there is a server full of inteligent people even if they are arrogant and sit around all day in smoking jackets (even the skulks) talking about the economical opportunities of the pacific rim and calling eachother old bean PLEASE tell me where it is. thanks

Best pub servers in North America IMO would be nsarmslab.com ones. Many times you won't find intelligent play on a pub though, no matter how hard you try. Maybe clanning is for you, check out the www.caleague.com NS forums for recruiting.

thats the problem..... im definitely not good enough for clan play, but want intelligent teammates/opponents....

In my experience, all the I AM clan servers, especially the gorge's hideout have some really smart people, and more of a concept of teamwork than most, and yes, there are plenty of n00bs to offset this, but there's a whole bunch of people who know what they're doing. NSArmslab is good too, and theres sometimes a great game going on guns4back2school, all are low ping, and usually have larger matches (very few 6v6).

Well, you all could try going on teamspeak and catching nsa's captains night... Fun tournament play without really needing a clan.

You don't need to be super awesome to join a clan, there are lower and upper divisions so you dont end up getting stomped x1000.

in general if you want to find a good crowd of people to play with, look for a server thats playing one of the classic ns maps (ns_bast, nothing, nancy) and you will find a nice bunch of people to play with. i found a couple of really nice 10 man servers that reminded me of the way ns servers were back in the day.

Based on your location, look for servers that you have at least a decent ping to (~100 or less), and try observing servers you see that may be full or close to full for large portions of the day. Try to figure out which servers seem to have a regular player base, and stick to those. It's really hard to find good public play NS servers, and even those won't be awesome all the time. Really, it boils down to a long hard search.

I remember, back in the day it took some server searching to find that perfect server where I fit in, and then after finding the server, I never left. I even had admin after a while because I played there so much. Then the server op shut it down (specific server I am referring to is the Condomless Brothel back in 1.04 days). So after a break from NS from versions 2.0-3.0b4, I joined back up in 3.0b5, hated it at first, but convinced the people that use to play with me back in the 1.04 days to play again, and we got back into it.

Now I run my own server, and I tend to think we are an above average public server. If you get a good ping to the Mr|Server(FF), check it out, best times are anywhere from 4:00pm-2:00am EST. This will probably change as the summer comes around to something like 12:00am-12:00am EST...server plugs are great <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Other than that, ya, the top servers like nsarmslab attract a lot of people, but I find 32 man CO servers, and 24 man classic NS servers are WAY TOO BIG. We always ran 16 players max, but just bumped up to 18 max. I wouldn't go much higher than this. I find 14-18 is the best number for a good game.

Just search for that one server you like! Don't give up, there are still good team-oriented, fun, non-noob servers out there! You just have to find them!
