<div class="IPBDescription">tired of spaceships (correct area?)</div> pertaining to the suggestion to a forested map,as for wall climbing ,the "push back" effect in the latest ns_hera map at "docking bay",close to marine start could be used to prevent that,as for the issues with too many plants and vegetation causing lag and possible game crashes,it does not have to be so forested,a similarity towards the biodome in ns_origin could suffice,and as I typed out earlier,this so called "forested area need not be the entire map,just 1/4 of it

2) You can get through that push field in hera, it just is really really hard.
3) That wouldn't be a forested map, that'd be a plain covered in algae with a couple of bushes.
4) If this forested area were of any size whatsoever, it'd lag to hell. Think refinery hive in bast, but bigger and without the generator things blocking los. People on dialup would cry.
5) Wait for the next engine; it'll look a lot better. Once again, boulders and other natural settings don't look realistic at all on the quake engine.

Actually, the map resides on their computer, so the bandwidth wouldn't make a difference.

Mmmm... Kharaa and Frontiersmen duke it out in an abandoned futuristic city... Bodies line the streets. Three hives: One down below, in the sewers. Another in the train station. A final one in a skyscraper. Yum.
NS Maps are based in space stations because of the backstory to the game, and because the game is balanced around a certain kind of map.
The backstory may change for NS2 -- someday. For now, not likely to happen.
The balance would have to be massively reworked though to allow for anything other then barest cosmetic changes. Due to the different nature of alien vs marine attacks (ranged vs melee) and the movement abilities of the aliens (wallwalking, flying) maps are limited in the amount of openess they can offer players.
marines get to the biodome through a walkway and can enter the biodome through a double door which can be only be operated from the outside(meaning marines are only able to use it unless an alien sneaks out an hijacks it allowing aliens to rush out and bite the cc till it blows) just something like that,no fancy texturised plants or anything
as for storyline for that,I think it follows along just nicely using a storyline like the kharaa infested the biodome and is successfully contained,but the prescence of them is threatening as everyone knows what they are capable so frontiersmen are sent to eradicate the kharaa menance

I'm working on a space hotel map. Its just takin a while since I am in school, a musician, and have barely no time. I'm workin, though, I promise. I'll do a post on it when its gettin done.
