Video Editing Software

<div class="IPBDescription">for my dad</div> What's easy software to use for video editing? I recommended windows movie maker but he has windows 2000 and I think it only works on XP. My dad is somewhat computer literate, so hes not a complete retard with software. Suggestions?

    What's he planning on doing? What kind of videos is he going to make and who is the audience? What kind of equipment does he have?

    He wants to make highlights of all my football games (tackles, etc) and give them to all my friends who were on the team and stuff...Equipment, durrrrrrr.     Ok, so you don't need anything complicated to do your editting. You can try avid free dv that caboose mentioned and see if it works.

    Never worked much with avid free dv, but for consumer-end video editing software, Adobe Premiere Elements and Pinnacle Studio are both great titles. My general impression of these is that Pinnacle studio is much easier to use, whereas premiere elements gives you more control and more features.

    If avid free dv doesnt work out, i'd give one of these a try, and if your dad has a fairly good idea of what he is doing, then Adobe Premiere Elements would be a good way to go.

    <i>Avid</i> and <i>Premier</i> are good if you have a PC. <i>Final Cut</i> if you have a Mac.
