Adobe Buys Macromedia
Disturbing:

So what happens with Dreamweaver and GoLive? Illustrator and Freehand? ImageReady and Fireworks?

Adobe better not do somehting stupid and ditch Dreamweaver to only replace it with GoLive. And I won't like that because GoLive is really a piece of crap. Dreamweaver is sooo miuch better.
An amalgamation of their products would most likely be the trend which would be cool. I use Fireworks and Photoshop hand in hand. Fireworks for my web graphics and Photoshop when I need to do fancier stuff. A combination of these 2 progs would be lovely.
Edit: An interesting article on speculation on who would have bought over Adobe. <a href='http://www.popstick.com/links/CW-20030220.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.popstick.com/links/CW-20030220.htm</a>
Our world ends now.

I just liked dreamweaver because I liked the realtime preview that updated as you did. Cuts out the step of saving and opening in a browser.
Its got a lot of problems right now imo. Its still the best PHP ide out there, but the best still sucks. :X
I use elements actually for my Graphic Design class. The majority of tools from photoshop are there, and a lot of the tools that aren't there can have the same effect thats done through different methods, so yeh I gotta agree there considering I got it for 50 dollars.

The main problem with dreamweaver is when it deals with like HUGE number of files. Takes freakin ages for it to process it all when it tries to sync with the webserver.
I know somethign worse
MicroSoft announced plans yesterday to buy out Flayra and the NS Dev Team, after NS has been rated the Number 1 game in the Wolrd for the 2nd year running- offer stands at 26 billion dollars

Yeah, it's not that difficult....if you're making one page. Designing a site is a hell of a lot easier if you can watch the whole thing unfold in front of you as you go. And you'll never forget the tag names/syntax.

Making it easy is why there are so many pages that say "LOLZ WELKOM 2 MY HOMEPAGE PLZ COM BAK SUN" and then fill the rest of the area with clipart and animated GIFs.
If you're not dedicated, you shouldn't have a website. (Unless you want a simple black-on-white layout, which I believe is best, to be honest. I go to a site for the content, not the ugly flash menu bar that wastes 1/4 of my screen.)

You don't have to visit those sites, CForrester. The internet wouldn't be as good as it is today if it wasn't for easy to use design tools. If you start people out with Notepad, then the only ones who would be using it would be programmers.
(Internet a good place today? PFFT.)
