<div class="IPBDescription">ala Playtester Diaries</div> So, most of you won't remember, but back before Nov 2002 when all we had were screenshots and threads about NS, but no game, the PlayTesters of the time created a thread about stories of Bob and Fatty and Blinky versus the marines. In fact, one such PT, Humbaba, used to be able to tell the story of an epic battle on Eclipse, and everyone would stand back in amazement (And to keep the drool off the keyboard). Now, with the final major release of NS on the HL1 engine draws nigh, the possible port to Source is taking center stage.

I propose this to the dev team. Create a new section on the site, a Developer's Journal, where the developers can place entries about the challenges and triumphs of the NS:S port, the awesome new features it allows, and the struggles yet to face. A place for stories, screenshots, and just info on what's going on. I know it won't be as epic as that three hour assault on Maintenance with JP/HA, but it will help the community know what's going on, and help the dev team with updated content about this process.

So team, what do you say?

    Good idea.

With the new physics engine, I want to hear about the team that stupidly relocates to the bottom of a ladder (say, The Pit on Agora?) and gets their base crushed by a falling Onos.

I agree, although i'm sure they probably have very little done on NS:S right now

Even when they do, there probably won't be any stories about the game since we can all play it now. The only thing really new would be graphics and maybe small physics stuff.... but it would be neat to see what they think when making the new models, adjusting\enhancing current levels, updating textures etc.

Although I'm sure corpses won't affect gameplay much, I do miss Agora greatly. I hope the bring it back in versions to come...

I like this idea, I'd really like to see it happen.

Good call Rad, I'd like to see this as well. I think overall something like this would help the community as a whole, as it would let us know that the devs are working hard as well as increase hype for the next version.

i would like to see this too, but a lot of times, the devs are just sitting there scratching their heads cause something is messed up and they have no idea why. they look at the code, and it looks right, but they know it's wrong. stuff like this wouldnt be very interesting to read

Haha, Drummer. You hit the nail there. Dev work isn't all that exciting. It's much like the green grass on the other side <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Well, I never imagined it to be made out of green falling digits on a black background.

I'd love to see tanke conquer the evil NS bugs in real time(well, closer to realtime then a changelog)
It could look like "Wow I'm an idiot, I forgot to use a pointer the whole time here. Now that the new hitboxes are working, I'm going to go <s>ask for a raise</s> play NS."

Yeah, it may not always be that interesting, but I think it would be entertaining nonetheless to see psyche of the developers descend into pschyzophrenia as they track down segmentation faults.

Hmmn, PT diaries and/or Dev journals would be fun, IMO. Maybe we could coax Humbaba and Hida back to write some more. : ) Wouldn't mind writing some myself, assuming that I make it into the NS:S PT(if there ever is one. o_O) or writing for the last few builds of the HL1:NS.
