since its optional, perhaps they will give us a choice to do 1.xx style gameplay? like you can choose casual or tourny, perhaps another choice will be given.

Like having the medkits say johnson and johnson, the welder saying craftsman and the marine taunts talking about coke.
A little late, and I haven't read all of the thread, but I think "Nexus" is a user management system. Consti Icons across all games, etc. It's not a stats program, but rather tracks players across the UWE universe. Exactly what this will entail, and how customizable the user side is, I don't know. But imagine a SteamID generated profile for each player, complete with current clan, favorite server, or other features. I feel strongly Nexux or BUS will not affect gameplay in any major way, and the hype is goign to overkill the actual product, but I think it will be a pretty strong addition to the UWE world, even if it isn't a new class of alien, etc.
I'm more interested in tangible data on the current/future status of NS:S. What's been tried, what exciting things have been discovered, etc. I know keeping some things in the dark make it fun and PR-friendly, but there's a difference and covering a product with a cloth for a surprise and turning the light in the whole building off. We need to something tangible to see what IS happening, whether it's a model render, screenshot, or simply a "Developer's Journal" type thing where dev's input weekly journals on what they're working on and what cool stuff they've found.

probably something similar to steam that will autoupdate the game and such, news updates, etc.
They'll probably never get natural selection into the My Games list so they'll make their own version of steam and have all the perks of that :-P
