if you really don't like surgery, there is another option out there - contacts that you only wear at night. Basically, they "shape" your eye correctly over night, then you take them out durring the day - and you can see clearly all day.
Most people have good luck with them - some only need to put them in every other night - and then get 2 days of good vision (without contacts).
Anyway, it is another option for those who are squeemish about surgery...

You'd think it'd hurt your teeth (initially, yes.), but it's done gradually. Not like it's going to manipulate your eyes with jerking movements.
Glasses can be great espcially if some one is an **** and takes them, I just fool around "Ahrg I cant see a **** without my glasses!" and when they get near enough probably laughing I punch em straight in the face/body part surpriceingly accurate <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
If you can afford it, then I think its definately worth considering. My mum has basically told me that I WILL get laser surgery one day, so I guess she feels its a good thing. She had a similar problem to you, with one eye different focused to the other so she just got 1 eye improved and left the other as is, so she doesn't have to keep switching glasses <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Look at it as like braces. You'd think it'd hurt your teeth (initially, yes.), but it's done gradually. Not like it's going to manipulate your eyes with jerking movements.
