Help - Need To Come Up With A Flash Project Bid

Totally the wrong part of the web to ask this, but Mrs. Maus has a client at work who wants to have a Flash version of some of their training materials. I'm sort of moderately skilled at flash and figure it wouldn't hurt to put a bid in myself.

The client so far has one bid for $30 000 which they think is rather too high for them (and has me thinking ker-ching), but I have no clue at all how to come up with a reasonable bid for the project. Does anyone know any corners of the web I could look for guidance, or should I basically just pluck a number out of thin air?

The lowest current bid - $0.01 or whatever your equivelent is.

EDIT: Realistically, evalute the client (commercial?), how much usage your product will get, the competition's bids, and how much labor it'd take to get the finished project. Obviously if it's something you could easily do for yourself for free you're at a good advantage because you can easily underbid eveyone else.

Estimate the number of hours that it would take. Mutliply that by how much you would get paid per hour for other work. Add a little bit to make it worth your while, depending on how much the client can afford.

Yeah, the price all depends on difficulty, time to complete and if you would need anyone else to help you complete the project. It may be a good idea to ask fam on IRC, see what the company he works for charges.

    What sort of training materials?
