map on HUD
I'm having a problem with my map on the HUD. It is there, but nothign displays on it. It looks like a white "fog" covers it (like its glazedd over) but nothing shows on it (me, allies, enemies, etc). Could I get some help to set it up or should i just reinstall?

Hmm.. I wasn't sure if it was me or if it was supposed to be that way. I'd be interested in hearing if you get an answer too!

The minimap shouldn't be all white, but I've seen that it is on some systems. There are no blips on it unless you're a commander, and that will be improved in the near future.

As in, we'll get teammates' positions on our radars? If so then \o/

i can't see anything too... but when i turn down the gamma... i can see the layout of the map... but nothing more than that... i think it got something to do with the gamma...

We're suppose to see stuff on that?!?! Damn, it's all white for me too. I thought it was kinda dumb not to see ourselves and teammates (and ressource nodes).
How come all I see is the map layout?

I had this problem too, and I already reskinned the default map minimaps to darken the non-room areas. Here's a zip file containing them. They should all be placed in C:\SIERRA\Half-Life\ns\sprites\minimaps\ or whichever equivalent directory you may have specified.

i have this problem too, thought it was normal. then i read about flashes on the minimap when soldiers call for help and i didn't have that, i've never seen blips/flashes on my minimap. i tink it may have something to do with gamma too. anyone has this problem when they press 'escape' to the menus and it's really bright (like the gamma is set too high or something)

Make sure that your monitor has been tuned for optimal gamma by running:

Start | Programs | Natural Selection | Tune monitor for optimal gamma, and using this small utility to make sure your brightness is set too high (which will wash out the lighter parts of a screen when you start NS with it's higher gamma ramp).

    Greetings Folks,
Ok, I've tried the minimap sprites, now I can see the map, but are aliens supposed to show up when you have the motion detector available? I hear noises, but can't see anything on the Radar. So I can tell when I'm about to be killed by a skulk rush, but have no idea where they are coming from... I've learned to be VERY paranoid and cover all the vents, hallways, ceilings etc...

Currently the marine minimap is only useful as a navigational aid, AFAIK. No dots, blips, or anything on it yet. (which will change.)
