Web turrets sound like an excellent addition to a the alien arsenel. You cannot web a marine directly, we tested this and found that it made gorges far too effective as attackers, which is not there intened role.
Wait a sec, you can web a marine because I did it tth other night. Just shot web directly at him and he couldn't move very well and walked away really slow. So I'm pretty sure it works.
You cannot web a marine DIRECTLY. However, if you web two walls on opposite sides of the marine, and the line that gets drawn crosses his path, it will snare him. It's possible you had just been webbing a wall, and when you fired the web directly at the marine, it hit a wall behind him and the line intersected with his position. That's all I can think of. I tried this in-game during my own gorging runs, and it's tricky, but possible.
When webbed, a good tactic is to just turn around and run the other way. It's faster than trying to run backwards while webbed, and being able to see the enemy does you no good since you can't attack anyway.
