He won't have enough res to electrify base TF. IF he does, he's not electrifying one of the ndoes int he field, which is defeating the whole point. Or, his team would have 0/0 when Fades appear. Joy.
An elec node isn't exactly the hardest obsticle to take out- heck, if the nodes far enough from rine start, a gorge and an OT could do it with time. Or a gorge and a skulk. Alien teamwork destroys elec.
It's much more of a hinderance on decent level play. I'm sure it works lower levels, but around those levels of play you see things like turrets getting the most kills, and 1 hive onos ripping entire teams apart.

If you can consistently get good results in a controlled environment , by all means share your srats with us. Can your strats work consistency in a 6v6 environment where people actually know what they're doing and there is some organization?
me i dont care how many sulks i got with me if i come around a courner and see 4 rines siting on a elec rt i am runing the heck away, they could stand there with knife and taunt me i wouldnt attack, and whats the bet nether would the rest of the sulks, tho we may con one of them to run in there and try and get a bite in, just for laughs

They are called "Skulks" not "sulks" please learn how to spell. I really, REALLY have trouble reading your posts. Is English your 3rd or 4th language by any chance?

Proceeded to drop 2 sensory chambers (and so had about no res at that point) in Cargo and Acidic, and THEN started saving for Fade. Your newbie comm and our team not dropping chambers kinda canceled each other out I guess but the main point is that, I, as a LATE Fade (I had to earn about 48 res as opposed to the 25 res early fades need to earn), our first Fade died about 30 seconds after finishing egging, and we STILL somehow managed to hold you back (getting JPs against sensory was a bad idea I think tho)
And I'll be the first to admit, that (especailly with my wierd lag I keep getting these few days) I am a mediocre Fade at best compared even to the rest of Omega division. My Fading skills aren't that good, and I was a late Fade, but yet with just a simple focus upgrade I was able to hold you back? What does that say about Fades and focus?
I remember you held double for quite a while, and at about 2 minutes intot he game you managed to cap Fusion, and secure it, and soon after that got Cargo node. That's 5 nodes you were teching on, which is enough I think. I was very surprised you didn't drop a phase gate outside waste as it was building and shotty rush it. Instead, you decided to use JPs on Satcomm, where the Fade (me) could heal and I can just whittle down your marines with focus.
Getting Fusion in the beginning was a very good idea, but just letting waste go up, even when you knew it was going up (or I think you did, because I killed a marine in waste as watse went up) was just...wierd. I could not have defended waste, because I had no way of healing.
That first game was pretty bad, I'll agree. Only like half the alien team went to defend their hive, and they had movements no less! I noticed that our electrified res nodes went down fairly quickly actually. By 5 minutes west access and double went down already if I remember, and they were all electrified. did your jps have armor 2 or 3? did they have a 2nd hive? if so, Jps are almost a waste unless your surprise them.
I used to do this strat 1 month into first learning how to comm. It worked on most pubs at the time. I later learned that rushing upgrades is a little more effective. I then learned rushing upgrade and dropping weapons around 2.5 mins is even more effective..
And then I learned if you kill all the alien rez nodes with your shotguns before the 4 min fade, they dont get a fade.....imagine that....

I'll knife a node in pubs if I have guys covering me (but generally I'll be the one covering) becuase sometimes the comm won't drop ammo quickly enough to take that node down. Lately, I've been encouraging my teammates to SHOOT the node down with me, even with LMGS. But yes, shotguns work best to take nodes down.
Gecko, they had jetpacks before we had two hives. The second hive went up right when we fought off their second wave of shotgunners. From what I saw when I got there as a Fade, I only saw 4 marines in there at once at most, and they weren't all shooting the hive. The hive was down to 30% at one point I think, but they were all busy shooting the skulks or shooting me as I blinked around the room, ocassionally taking a focus swipe at them.
I had no idea what armor they had. At least armor 1 I'm sure tho. It was like 10, 11 minutes into the game.
I really like the idea behind this strategy. It's about time someone thought of electrification as more than just a PG-guarder. :P
The only think I don't like about it is that it seems like it needs above-average Marines and what with 3.0f's release, most pubs won't be well suited for it. Also, it's very risky (no spawning! Oh-noes!).
But the payoff for this succeeding is quite paramount.
As an alien, I try to rush the first Marine Res Nodes and delay them by, usually, using the dropped RT as a shield -- or if it doesn't exist yet for some bewildering reason, hide until I hear it being built and ambush.
Also, I watched Canada vs France round 4(NS_Metal) and it's more than possible for W2/A1 JP HMS/Shotgun marines to fend off fades. Of course, they're very skilled.. but it IS possible.

- Aliens will get focus and pwn your marines hard in the beginning, while you are busy electrifying your nodes without researching armor 1.
- Well placed sensory chambers provide cloaking, making aliens difficult to stop and expect. If the comm doesn't scan constantly, then the marine team is screwed.
- A quick focus rush on the base could instantly screw your team over, especially if the skulks decide to spawn camp the ip's with focus, completely hindering your progress across the map.
- Since you've already wasted a crap load of res on electrifying, you won't have weapon upgrades available to deal with fades easily. A walker fade with focus could probably smash 3-4 rines, with lmgs, alone in a single room without dying.
- By the time you're ready to get upgrades, the second hive will most likely be up and the aliens will probably do dcs when they realize you're electrifying.
- Play on servers outside of lunix monster to see how well your strat works plz.
