Another style test....
Well due to hosting errors and losing the site entirely, i decided to start over and redesign it (Doesn't hurt to try and stay in practice), so i've been playing around and this is about an hour or so's work towards the design.

The basis behind it, is this room i'm in now. In the last month i've just moved house and we've not had a chance to redecorate yet, so i'm surrounded by floral patterns and fleur- de-lys, so i figured it was somewhat convenient to use what is currently the bane of my existance to some sort of creative ends.

C&C is welcome, but a few comments.

The top box will have some sort of image and the likes, it won't be left empty, i'm just not sure what will be in there yet, any suggestions are welcome, the lower box will hold content. Fonts, font colours and such are still being wondered about, feel free to suggest if you like.

I get a decidely queer feeling when I look at the background. Gives me a feeling of motion sickness which is strange since I don't get really motion sickness. Then again that may just be me looking at it at 2:55am.

The photo needs to be something other than blue, it should be predominantly colours contrasting with blue methinks. There is currently too much blue in the layout.

I've always leaned more towards minimalism (Though this is not minimalism) than i have towards "clutter," if you will.

One of the reasons my desktop also doesn't have a single icon on it.

EDIT: Also worth bearing in mind this is without the top "logo" image in, and also without any text, this is purely the layout and style test really.

Also, as to the "too blue," I have one problem, my main monitor is quite faded, and uses a different palette to my second monitor, so finding a balance between the two has been difficult, thankfully, tweaking the colours is something that isn't all to hard.

Heh, i've spent so long picking apart, putting together and making that background pattern perfectly loopable and scrollable in both directions that it just doesn't affect me at all.

I'm kinda 50/50 about making the background static or not. On one hand the static background would detract from the motion sickness of it all because it wouldn't move, on the other hand, that would introduce the annoying side effect that scrolling the page would be choppy.

I'd make the borders around the bit for the content quite a bit smaller. DEY MITE DESTRACT FROM TEH CONTENT, imo.
