    Ok, right away go into 'run' on the start menu, type "cmd" and press enter. As soon as the console comes up type in "format C:"

    If you did it right it should recover all your lost files.

    Sick answer Swiftspear.

    Your best option is to buy a recovery program from your local software store.

    I don't think that's a good idea. It is one folder and not my whole disk. isn't there another way to solve this problem? <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Not that I know of. I uninstalled some program a while back and it deleted all digital images in My Pictures. The recovery software was the only option.

    Problem (not really) solved.

    I downloaded "PC Inspector File Recovery" and I got most of my files back, but some files are gone and the installers for some progs (like xfire) don't work anymore..but that's better than nothing.

    note: I don't wish that ever happens to you! the result is that only 36 of over 687 files are useable and functioning well. the rest has been termintaed or is not useable anymore.. =( **** it all....

    -edit-
    I'm really lucky that some of the important files are on my ftp. but not all of them =(

    The moral? Don't let anyone touch your PC. No matter how much you know them.

    Good policy. I wish I didn't violate it as much as I do.

    I would also recommend putting your most valuable files on someone else's computer as backup. I use a friends fileserver at his house for this (saving my work files, maps, sheet music, etc).

    Put your pron on CDs next time! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
    Sorry about the loss. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    if you've got norton antivirus you can rightclick the recycle bin (garbage bag) and click "unerase wizard" and recover the files from there, else i'm out of ideas.

    And on the "letting other people use your comp" issue, i smash them in the face... if they need a comp, they can take my lappy or my gf....'s comp <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    use my method for when people hurt a computer: Smash them in their face.

    In this case, smash yourself in your face.
