    You'll need to make sure you have the ports open on your router for HL. Here's a link for what you'll need.

    Any luck?

    What's your router make/model? I'm familiar with most of the common interfaces and can guide you through it if you're still having problems.

    you will also have to make sure your machine is set for the correct DMZ host which is what my router calls it but yours could be different.

    Assuming you have a Linksys Router (most common) 192.168.1.1 is your set up page (your pw is admin)

    from there go to advanced and fowarding <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    other common one is 192.168.0.1

    I mean in the forwarding part it has like a start value and an end value, and I don;t know what to redirect in the first place ...

    Assuming the default for a server port is still 27015, just make the start and end of the range 27015 and then make sure the IP points to your machine.

    Then go to the status page in the Linksys router setup and look for the WAN IP and give that to people so they can connect to your server.

    To find your computers IP (LAN not WAN) just type ipconfig in the command prompt. Any bit of software on your computer will report your computers IP as being localhost/192.168.1.x/127.0.0.1 because you are behind a router.
