<div class="IPBDescription">for running a dedicated server.</div> I'm looking to run a server on my computer to playtest my map ns_shiva.
I've never run a dedicated server before, and I don't have the foggiest idea how to set up things like map rotation etc. Can anyone direct me to a quickstart guide?

Just noticed beta2! I'm downloading for my server now. I really like this map. Just need to get my regulars to play it more.
Okay...this is probably because you don't know how the server runs but I am going to tell you...
You need to fix your shiva zip file.
a)First off, do you use linux? because I notice the res file looks like it has unix style line ending characters. Change this to windows style line ending for three reasons:
--- 1) most servers are windows now, thanks to steam ("Down with steam!!")
--- 2) windows people are stupid, and if this gives errors, they won't know what to do
--- 3) linux people are smart, and if it's in windows style, they will be able to comprehend the vast knowledge required to fix it.
b)PUT THE RES FILE IN THE CORRECT SPOT! (ahem...sorry bout that, but the last one had the same problem!)
--- 1) res file looks to be complete...that's good <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
--- 2) place in the "maps" folder right beside the map .bsp itself
I think that's it...do this and people might be happier with using your map!
PS What was changed? I'll go look it up eventually...but if you see this, write a couple points here...the mapping forum scares me! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I know if a file hasn't changed, the client won't always get the new one...don't know about wad files, but this could be really bad. I suggest changing it to something else (maybe ns_shiva_b2a.wad?)
Someone correct me if I'm wrong...
