Slowdown Problem

hey guys, i recently reformatted my comp, and i have been having all kinds of trouble with ns. one thing thats been happening is slowdown. i play in 800x600 and when i look in certain spots i get a slight slowdown. it's really weird. i can look around freely in one spot. it goes as smooth as butter. as soon as i get to a specific spot, i slow down a tiny bit then go back to normal. anyone know what the problem might be?

anything specific about these "spots"? i.e, certain type of lights, or maybe a special effect (fog, particles, etc)... or just.. any random spot? Maybe a map seam?

Possibly video card related. What card do you use?

Xeno, it sounds like a silly thing to ask, but when you wiped the system, did you remember to reinstall drivers, etc. Not just graphics drivers, but drivers for everything, even for hardware that Windows built drivers for?

Like I said, it's a silly thing, but it's remarkable how many people forget to do the simple things...
