<div class="IPBDescription">And why the changes are for the better</div> First off, kudos to the NS team, excellent product <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I've played 3 games since the patch has been released, on a 1.01 server.
Game 1: Aliens got their butt's whooped, pretty hard. I don't know if it was due to disorganization, or what, I joined the game half way through. Regardless, the new patch sure as hell hasn't made the marines less powerfull, if they have a decent commander.
Game 2: Started of toe to toe. Aliens used Skulk rushes with 1-2 gorges getting the other hives online. We managed to contain the human invaders pretty good, and thought we were doing well. But to our dismay, one marine at some point had managed to slip through, and set up a new base in one of our hive locations. This presented a problem, they had a phase set up, and were able to keep the turrets up and running against our Fade rocket attacks.
Then I got lucky.
In an attempt to distract the marines, I thought I'd try to eat their CC a bit. So I charge the main base, and head for the CC. And I accidentally go through their phase gate, while dodging turrets. I pop out the other side, and find myself right next to the turret factory. Due to turret placement, none could hit me.

I don't know if the commander didn't see me or what, but I was able to get the factory down. All the turrets went silent.
You could hear the Fade's chuckling.
Shortly thereafter we had the third hive up, and since that was the only marine expansion, they fell soon after.
Game 3: This was a doozy, lasting well over an hour. The marines by this time had gotten smart, and mounted an effective defense against our skulk rushes. Soon they had their base defences online, and began moving out of thier base, and set up several mini bases at the surrounding nozzels. The commander this time was much better at placing his turrets, making the factory damn near impossible to hit it with a skulk.
But the commander made a technical blunder. By securing the surrounding nodes, yes they got some resouces, and kept us, for the most part, out of their main base. But they never got close to securing a hive. As such, we had 3 hives at about the 30 min mark. But due to their amount of resources, there was a good amount of HA's and HMG's moving around, so the demise of the marines was a slow one. We pretty much had to concentrate on a mini-base at a time, taking each one out, and rebuilding it in our own image.
While it took a good long while, the marines eventually were trampled beneeth our many hooves.
My point? While the aliens won 2/3 times, neither win was an easy one. And both marine losses can be chalked up to a commander error at some point. So I believe the game is damn near perfectly balanced now. The marines just need to rely on each other now, instead of HA and HMG's, with the forests of turrets to back them up.
