There was a a speedhacker on FR31NS today. I think it's the first blatant cheater I've ever seen in NS (been playing off and on since v1). This guy was skulking and killed every single person on our team in a manner of seconds after a beacon. Like someone else was saying though, the cheaters who are careful probably don't get caught, and most of the time I see people getting accused of hacking there is almost no evidence of it.
recoup, you obviously missed the joke that swift laid down. that's ok, i didnt expect it to be picked up anyway. on|e does a fair job of catching blatant hax, but i wouldnt trust half the admins to catch someone who really knows how to use a hook. I used to be an admin there, back before i left, and i banned quite a few people. I think out of all the bans that i gave out, maybe one or two was for hax, the rest for improper attitude, bad names, things that violated the server rules, etc. and all the hacking bans had lengthy demos attached, as well as detailed descriptions of the event. I can say with an honest heart that most of the rest of the old on|e admins didnt demo, didnt report bans, nada; and still dont. Edge, Sabe, Rath, and Pan-Man were about the only ones who did. Nowadays i spend my time on Lunixmonster and I have to say (and i think swift, 2 of 8, and several other people will back me up here) that i dont think ive seen a hax ban on LM for at least a couple months. I've seen a couple on the NS Arms Lab CO servers, but you can expect hax bans on co servers, so that aint saying much.

I took the time to look into the matter after being banned from several HLGuard servers. Needless to say, any server administrator who puts HLG with aimbot and wallhack detection on their NS server needs to do some research.
It seems pretty obvious that the anti-cheat programs aren't very effective. The only way to get rid of cheaters is to use the subjective judgement of the admins which can be influenced by bias, social pressure, and their own emotions of anger, jealousy and frustration.]
Unfortunately many legit players are punished for their talents rather than rewarded.

Well, just had the pleasure of playing with a speed hacker (which means easy to spot), and am now making the rounds getting her (yes it's a her, angry little 13 year old goth based off her spray (which is a picture of herself)) banned from the places I play ....
Demos available upon request if you want to add her to your list too....

Hacking is hooking the NS, CS, DoD, HL, etc. executable file with some pieces of code that allow you to spin like a freak, bunnyhop like a freak, speed like a freak, or just be a freak in general.
In a game like NS with no recoil, extremely accurate weapons, etc., all you need is a steady hand and a decent mouse, and OMG, ORGANIC AIMBOT. I'll admit that there are /some/ hackers (not cheaters) out there, but there's not as many as people would like to think.
