Massive Lag Issue

whenever I play in a server with more than I'd guess about 10 people and combat erupts I get lagged horribly. I asked for help on this in the IRC channel and the only response was "server issues" but when I asked why it only seems effects me (I look at the score board my ping is around 700 while everone else's is normal) noone said anything. So can anyone either elaborate on what kind of "server issue" would target individual users, or let me know what I'm doing wrong, I would be very appreciative

there also seems to be issues with the servers atm...
I am person 3.
My DSL is with SBC and I pay a little bit more for the higher connection rate (768?).
Might this be a problem with DSL and/or the settings set on the computer when DSL is installed on the computer?
Just my 2 cents worth.
Well, I just read another posting of someone having the same problem but he has cable modem.
So much for my theory.
My other stats are I have a 60 GB hard drive that is not even half full.
Just defragged last week.
CPU is AMD 2.1
Vid card is GE Force FX 5700 LE with the most updated drivers installed. Made by [BFG Tech]
Windows XP with all the latest updates.
Case has 5 or 6 fans and CPU is water cooled.
I was not having this kind of slow down problem until 3.0 final.
Before (beta 5), I started playing and it was lagging and slow - it was constantly that laggy and slow all way through.
...in which case I would leave and try to find a better server.
Now, things start out great but as soon as the first bite or shot is fired, ping shoots to 400 and more. The most I have caught it is 700 +
Does this happen on every server, or just some?
Do you have any network clogging apps up, like P2P? Are you sure you don't have any viruses/spyware clogging up your connection?

I don't think it has anything to do with DSL. It may have something to do with your ISP, but DSL is just as good as cable or a T1 or anything.
Also, you've got a Geforce LE, but you have water cooling??? That's an extremely odd combination.
I have a Geforce 5500 oc. I am running a cable modem fast connection.
Everything is deafult, I even re installed NS.
I can play any other game, and my comp runns great. UT 2004, HL2 dm
Uranus
pings of around 100 in the ready room, but when i join up; it starts running choppy.. and high pings & gets worse when more ppl join etc.. never happened on beta 5
rates:
3500/30/20
(default)
specs.
amd 2600+
768mb ram
Ati radeon 9600xt 256mb
Massive lag spikes.
Problem started with 3.0, im on 56k, using default rates, no spyware etc.
Previous versions of NS ran fine. Even other games run fine for me like CS:S.
Some things i have noticed.
In Net_Graph under "In" the value would jump to a few thousand.
At the same time i can hear the shotgun pump action sound being repeated extremely fast. Its like if you had a button that played that sound and you pushed it faster than superman could.
A64 3000+
1 gig ram
6600gt
Awesome!
I think we have a fix guys.
Now its working ok.
I get huge spikes and that weird pump action sound is still there.
I have no idea WTH is going on as ive never had this problem with ns or any other game before.
i really think theres just some bug or some goofy glitch that certain people are getting affected by.. and its really disappointing... before now, i could play 3+hrs in a row, and now i play for 30mins and i just get so frustrated after lagging and not being able to control my guy and dying.
maybe someone is aware of it and is looking into it... who knows.
have you disabled QoSpacketSchedular?
That bug may or may not be related to the massive lag spikes i get. Other ppl get the shotgun sound bug but dont experience the lag that comes withs it like i do and probably other 56kers do.
