I like gifs... I don't know why, but I do.

That's because gifs only have a certain amount of colors that they can use. It's better to CTRL-V to a different application and use .jpg (if it's a real world picture or 3d game) or .png (if it's a screenshot of a geometric computer application, like firefox or a flash game).
That's good to know. I've always pushed Alt + Print Scrn, but I always have the window maximixed, too, so I didn't notice the difference.

Well, it's better for size, but it's never going to be better for quality. There's a reduction in quality with a jpeg from the compression, but with a raw bitmap there isn't any compression (hence the filesize) and there's no information loss whatsoever from that.
