My mom just heard about this on the news: Microsoft is recalling some old power cords that can be defective for the Xbox. There is a risk of an electrical fire with these old cords, and getting a new one is free.
To see if you need a new cord, go to <a href='http://replacements.webprogram.com/en-us/New_Order.asp#' target='_blank'>this webpage</a>. You'll need the serial number off your Xbox and the maufacturing date - they can be found on the back of the 'box here:
