Who Once Was Old Is "newb" Again

I was an active NS player about a year ago, but stopped playing completely. I'm anxious to get back into the game with the forthcoming 3.0 release.

I am, however, completely clueless about how to get NS up and running with all the new Steam stuff.

My big question is what do I need to buy? I have no software anymore. Do I have to go out and find an old copy of retail Half-Life or CS, or can I buy one of the Steam packages (Bronze, Silver, etc.) and expect NS to work?

Thanks for helping an old-timer get back into the swing of things.

IIRC, steam silver will set you up with HL2 and HL1. Enabling you to download and play NS

Whoa... Old Fogies? You mean I don't have to pretend I'm a teenager anymore to avoid ridicule? Think I'll start playing on your servers...

Basically, you need a copy of Half Life (1) and you need to download Steam. Or you could buy a package from steam which will include Half Life (just look at their website). Then you need to download and install NS (beta 5).

Or, you could upgrade an old card, get a new R9800, or an RX series, and get HL2 Bronze, pay the $15 upgrade and get the Silver version, like some did. As it gives you the Back-Catalogue as well.
