<div class="IPBDescription">are they going to be fixed for beta6</div> <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/bt/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=0000483' target='_blank'>External gamma adjustments bug</a>
Just wondering if they are finally going to address and fix this for b6. Since 3.0 I haven't been able to adjust in-game gamma through the ATI control panel and it makes for frustratingly dark maps.

More blatant evidence of xensity hacking.
Stick to default gamma settings its more fun <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
i get the same problem m8, i have to use third party gamma apps such as Gappa and Powerstrip to get my gamma high during in game.
Some people have monitors that make it impossible to see anything useful with the default settings. The default settings don't look the same for everyone, that's why they can be changed.

I wish I could agree, but its so blatantly obvious that that's not the way it is. Very rarely are games "meant to be played" the way they're supposed to be. This is why you have custom binds, scripts, gamma settings, custom cvars etc. If everyone played by the same variables, then yes you could make that statement, but since it is not practical to have this (since different ppl/comps call for different customizations) that statement is unrealistic and idealistic. It's like telling an F1 driver "you pansy, why do you use such sofisticated hi-tech computerized equipment to control your engine, and automatic gear shift buttons? That's not how F1 was intended to be raced". The fact of the matter is, unless you force everyone to use this, your competition will inevitably come out with more advanced technology, forcing you to do the same.
meh pretty annoying.

I mean Im fine with playing the game at where its supposed to be played but compairing my NS to another computer on default settings it looks noticable darker for some reason.
Also I usualy have to play NS with really bright lights on in the room (b/c I live with other people) and then its almost impossible to see anything on my screen from the glare.
Cloaking is going to look SO FREAKING COOL in the next incarnation of NS.
