Weird Problem With Agp Setting On X800xt Pe

Recently purchased and installed a radeon x800 xt platinum, and upon checking my display settings, the agp is set to off as shown below.

I've tried setting it to 8x, restarting, checking my bios to make sure it's set properly, and still, it keeps getting reset to off each time I restart. Is this some sort of bug in the latest catalyst drivers I don't know about, or am I forgetting to do something?

Thank you all.

    ....now I have to ask this; Are your mainboard drivers up to date?

    I had a similar problem back in the 4x AGP days and it was driver related.

    Yep, using an MSI k8n neo 2 platinum, all the drivers maintained by liveupdate

    Update your video card drivers and try diffrent settings in your bios, that might work. Otherwise, goto your ati folder and set it to 8x, then set the file that contains the settings to read only. That is, if the settings are stored in the ati folder. I dont own a x800 (wish I did) so I cant help you too much <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Yeah upgrade your video drivers maybe? SMARTGART checks to see if the current drivers can perform agp functions with your card and gives you the results there..

    [edit: after investigating the cause of the problem I've come to two conclusions: It's either a chipset driver needing updating or a messy ATI driver installation...]

    Ok, tried reinstalling the drivers from scratch to no avail, so I'm guessing chipset. I did mess around with uninstalling the drivers for the previous 6600gt that was in here, maybe that messed something up, I had to install a buncha stuff from the original mobo cd again.
    When you say chipset;
    I've got an msi k8n neo 2 mobo, nforce 3. So I'm assuming I should reinstall the latest nforce drivers from nvidia?

    Yes. Install the latest drivers for EVERYTHING. If you do this, then you can rule out faulty drivers, which cause many problems. If not, then I would suggest trying to return it and get a new one...that always fixes things.

    Not all the time, some times older drivers run better than newer ones, depending on the manufactuerer of the brand of card (saphire, yada yada)
