you can help it a little, for example its much easier to bhop around ns_veil (or orbital!!) than, say, agora or ayumi. a general rule could be to avoid filling the floors with unnecessary little elevation changes and stuff like that.

ahh, but you must becareful, because now you're heading into the whole "Clan play vs Pub play" aspect of NS. So what are you suggesting? That bunnyhopping is only effective in Pubs? In that case, then you are implying that bunnyhopping is only fair against those who can defend against it (such as clanners). So then are you suggesting it be removed from pub play? And hence we get back into the age old discussion of "should we balance the game for pubbers or clanners?".

See how it just goes round in circles?

Noooo...I'm saying that, believe it or not, people who play the game more and are more skilled can handle skulks that move faster and more erratically. Big frickin surprise.

You can't ban bunnyhopping in pubs, because there are plenty of pubbers who can hit bunnyhopping skulks most of the time. That group just doesn't make up the majority as far as I can tell. If you take bunnyhopping out of pubs, then there is literally no difference between what a average and what an excellent skulk player can do movement-wise, which is just dumb. Bunnhopping IS balanced for both clan and pub play; good people kill with it, bad people get killed with it. That's a sign of GOOD balance, dammit, that the outcome of the game depends on player skill. People should stop complaining and just accept the fact that *gasp* there are people out there better than they are. So...much...b****ing....

Heh, I don't know why people don't try to improve and learn how to bhop and learn how to shoot skulks that are trying to bhop at you as a marine. It isn't like it's hard to learn how to bhop, most people could probably figure it out by taking like 10 seconds to spectate a player that is doing it frequently. Hell, there are guides and such out there on the subject, if a player isn't willing to use those resources then too bad.

As for removing bhopping, it's an engine issue, they may not be able to simply remove it.

i see a skulk bhopping in the open as an easy target.. it does bring on the pressure though, seeing a skulk rush at you at the SPEED OF LIGHT and you only have those crucial seconds of fire before you either pull out your knife in desperation or strafe jump like a crazy man while reloading, but if you can't get him with your pistol.. you need help.

It takes practice to bhop as well as practice to counter it, when i fist encountered bhopping skulks, i could not shoot one down if my life depended on it(which it did). As time went on i encourage them to bhop towards me MuHAha :>

Apparently you didn't read this thread, or any of the other threads about bunnyhopping. It was removed for marines. That means it can be removed for aliens.

It's not only effective in pubs. Far from it. I think it's probably *essential* for survival in clan games, because themariunes are just that damned good that if you don't bhop, you'll die 100% of the time.

actually if i was scrimming, i would much rather go against a bhopper then one who ambushes or pub jumps (which doesnt hapen much in scrims but still)

i said this last bhop complaining thread, bhoppers are easy to hit if you have played the game more than once. Its the same movement every time
hell you can just fire in the center and the skulk will just jump into your bullets. You dont even need to aim.

is aiming only fair against those that know how to defend against it? Obviously no
bhopping is a part of the game, and as with all aspects of the game you have to learn how to counter them or use them to your advantage

1) Get good crosshairs.
2) Place crosshair on alien.
3) Hold down mouse1 until dead.

Or you could just throw all the carefully contrived obfuscations of the actual topic at hand away and say "Good players beat bad ones, sometimes in sexy and impressive ways". Get better or play with a carefully selected community of crappy players if you don't like it

Or alternatively get a hobby which is either noncompetitive or where you enjoy building up skill more.

Well there is a fair few pubs that BOS bunnyhoppers, or people who can shoot bunnyhoppers, so those carefully selected comunities are acctually not so hard to find. God forbid you ever get GOOD in a server like that though...
