People, believe us, these long games on b6 are really neat. Victory keeps swinging between the teams.

Finally, it's getting back towhere it was. I bet there was constant swinging of the upper hand between the teams....

I remembered my first game where it lasted for about an hour. Now THAT was the NS I remembered. I'd like to see those days again, and it seems like this version just might be it.

    If it isn't.....crap <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

The End End Games ( the final assault base )now are faster with 3 hives, because FAdes with Acid Rockets, can own all.
Maybe, the sens are the blame.
Think: Aliens Build sens first,( 70 or 80% games ) rines are scared, no 9283 alone rambos every corridor, more group of people together. But Aliens dont have dcs, then Fades are less powerfull.
This make ( sometimes) that aliens wait until 2 hive to have fades an Onos, but again, they dont have Mcs. No celerity for Onos and no Adren for fades. They have more carefull, less Rush = More slow figts and every Alien have his eye in his adren bar. And if rines have 1 hive or a reloc in the las hive, that make a epic battle that all people want.

Pd: maybe this is a reason maybe not, but that is true.

It actually seems to me that the amount of people building SCs, MCs, and DCs are evening out. Yesterday I played 2 DC first games, 3 MC first games and 3 SC first games (yes, I like to keep track). Seems pretty balanced out there.

The endgame does go slightly faster. However, endgame on NS_eon is great for marines....it's great fun.

Yes, the games are seeming to get longer (unless skill stacked).

Sc is suefull for 1 chamber, because no time for motion and for Armor 1, but how 2 or 3 is more ****. With MT or armor upgrades isnt than great
And yes, i see less games start with scs, but always more than Dc or MC first.
And in Pubs Sc will be a Solid option for first chamber i think.

Obviously the reason the games are lasting so long is because the servers are always full of consties ;P

At the beginning of B3 all people start with Sens, i remember, but now only a little games start with this.
But i see some Sc first chambers games today. ANd with the new Re-Launch of Sensorys i think that will be one of the more ussual first chamber for a long time

From our data, it does not seem as though we'll see lots of 60-minutes-games once the hivebug is resolved (we believe we nailed it, by the way), but experience with earlier versions and scheduled games indicates that we'll likely see a somewhat longer average classic game due to the fact that the alien early-game-buffs lead to a certain amount of shuffling up to the two-hive-period.
The big issue here is that the often discussed 'epic' games suit some, but not all playing styles - particularily competitive play, where you should be able to play two matches in a row, sets a few restrictions in that regard, which leaves us with the task of the creation of a sensible balance in yet another field (and don't even start about seperated competitive gameplay, we won't segregate our community in this fundamental a manner). My thesis is that the important factor is not so much the actual gamelength, but the amount of time up to the decisive point: Games that last sixty minutes, but have been decided around minute five will be boring, while a thirty-minutes-game that was open until five minutes before its end will be ultimately more rewarding. We're working on it.

from my understanding, Flayra wanted game times to be about 20 mins, this however could have changed.

Nice to know that NS should be catering for everyone, short-gamers and long-gamers, can't wait to get playing this version.

It made sense to me. Getting sensory forces marines to be cautious because skulks are a bigger threat, so they don't advance as quickly through the map. However, sensory upgrades aren't nearly as helpful for higher lifeforms as movement or defense, so aliens can't be as agressive later on in the game. Both teams are slowed down, making the game longer. That is what The is saying, at least.

uH.... BTW they haven't realeased the full version of the SDK, so yha... thats why thier not working on it..

I think the reasion why there are longer games is mainly because of a little more balance, the combination of not being able to put up the 3rd hive sometimes, and everyone being a constie so they kinda know how to play the game properly, and everyone is trying allowing for more comebacks
