    Valve's already said these "SHOCKING NEW WEAPONS!" in their news like 3 or 4 times now. So the question is...why do they repeat themselves?

    To make sure noone misses it and goes all "OMG WHY DID YOU ADD THAT STUPID SLAM WITH NO WARNING WTH NOOBS" in an email.

    I prefer these weekly updates to the long periods of silence we normally get.

    Slam = Satchel + Tripmines

    Which means, it's a tripmine with remote detonating...

    Isn't it obvious? The slam is simply a code name for a nuke, because when nukes hit the ground, they go SLAM!

    I quite like these weekly updates, Valve learned to keep the community in the loop thankfully.

    Yah, some of it may be repeat news, but things like VAC 2 I had no idea about.

    NOW WE HAVE THREE MAPS! ZOMG!

    So why aren't valve creating remakes of HLDM maps or changing maps from HL2SP into DM maps?

    Well, here's my thinking: they only have so many people. They have at least one existing, highly-demanded project nobody on the outside of the team can do, namely DOD:Source. Rather than split their resources, they're relying on things like the recent HL2DM map contest and releasing the source of some maps (like HL2SP's trainstation beginning) in the hopes that the community will do that much of the work for them.

    cliffe says he modeled it after datacore, but changed the name because it didn't fit.

    That's pretty bad. They should just name it Datacore and be done with it.

    You realize we have a number of people calling for them to remake the original maps, and now that they do just that people freak out? Obviously this map wouldn't make sense as "Datacore" since there is very little data and no evidence of any core.

    IMO, its a perfect blend of the old and the new. :)

    They should do a HL2 version of Stalkyards.... mmmm

    Usermade remakes of Stalkyards and Bounce have already been made. Several versions, I believe. Some are better than others.

    Oh, fine, I'll admit it, most of the remakes popular enough to be on many servers are popular because they're well done. I just have such favoritism for the gravity gun that the Valve made maps have been my favorites <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
