Any ideas? <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> whats your connection speed? does it do this offline or online only?
could be that your connections upload or download speed is teh sux
i think the server could only handle 40 or something wasnt it.

My connection is cable, runs <i>extremely smooth</i> in everything else, cant snap your fingers before a page is up either. FPS wont be decreasing because I havent changed my computer since I last played NS.. a lot of months ago. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
My ping goes up when a lot of activity is happening on screen. Thats all I know, there is a problem with transmitting data or something I'm guessing that a simple command in the console will solve, but I'm trying to find that command.

On a cable connection (1.5mbits/s and up), the rate can be as high as you want and it shouldn't be a problem. Once your rate goes above a certain level, it is capped by the rate settings and upload speed of the server.
Like Dragonmech said, it could be your cl_cmdrate and cl_updaterate, but I don't think it's your rate command.

Add it to your config.cfg file. Then, in your game all you need to do is hit 'h'. The computer will then set the variables to the low setting - play around with it from there.
Haze. Its actualy realy simple to fix Goto into Steam. Click Settings Then somewhere under setting you choose your connection. It defaults to 28.8 Choose T1 click apply, and okay say goodbye to problem

You forgot the carrier pigeons to transport the packets.
try cl_showfps 1 and see if your Ping goes up or FPS goes down first.
