Tested on a Win32 hlds with the following problem noted (sv_downloadurl enabled and both of these models uploaded to the webserver):

Client is not forced to download the new b_armslabT.mdl, therefore causing the game to crash to desktop (old models removed first).

Client is not forced to download EITHER new model if he has the originals installed in his models folder. This means although the new models are installed on the server the client will view the original models.

@kwik: I might give you the model compiled into a single .mdl without a T one (pm me if you want it), but for the other stuff you should perhaps ask in the server support forum

:EDIT: I just remembered: There is a plugin for AMX or such that allows server to make the clients download different models and use those instead, but I don't know the URL for that. Without a plugin it would be not very great anyway, because the client would have his mode replaced forever until he downloads a new one

Of course it worked fine for you when you installed it to the client (I did that also to see it in action).

But you have to test this as a player who doesn't have that option. Do this: re-install the 2 stock models in your client, then join the server. Tell us what happens.

I thought perhaps the new models needed to be pre-cached, so I added them to my "preecash.amxx" plugin - still didn't help.

You can't rename the armslab model or it will crash the server/client. The only way I see to make this model work is to have the client manually replace their originals with these 2.

I know of no plugin on modNS.org that will accomplish this.
  • ObstObst Join Date: 2003-03-12 Member: 14436Members, Constellation
And why do you want to force the client to see it?

Anyway, with renaming I meant that you rename it to something else and then the plugin calls this model. I have been on some servers now which ran MvM, and they had a plugin that allowed them to use different marine models for the different teams, and because by default they also call for the default models there must be a way to do it like this for the GorgeWash

I mean if you don't force the client to download the new model the client will see the old armslab.

mvm_allione.amxx pre-caches colored marine models for mvmmaps and assigns these models to the appropriate team. I am guessing we would need an extract from this to do likewise for the armslab. Let me pursue this ...

Good luck with that, and if you can modify the plugin and succeed in creating a new one only for the GorgeWash, feel free to say so in here
    btw: Check your pms.

    <3 for all, feedback appreciated.

I don't see any other way to do it than a plugin.
Once the new models are pre-cached an "entity_set_model" would apply the change. This project is probably beyond my field of expertise.

Cool, too bad you used external textures. I dont see a use for that command :/

    External textures, so what?
Hm, maybe I will update it with a "single .mdl" version if that is such a huge problem...

Updated version is available at that link WITHOUT external textures.

Aka: cant view model in the zip/rar w/o extracting. You should update with the 'HeavyMG' smoke coming out somewhere for a extra effect

Personally I dislike the "HeavyMG" effect, I prefer the "StompSmoke"

Anyway, the machine has no kind of exhaust, so smoke coming out of it would be of no sense. Perhaps a blinking lamp or such, but honestly I think it is good enough already
