Steam Troubles

<div class="IPBDescription">client log-on issues (or lack there of)</div> Has anyone having any issues logging on to the steam network?

I tried to play some ns today, but soon as I put in my account name and password and hit enter, I get a message stating that the steam client is having troubles connecting to the steam network, and I get a retry option(which of course I clicked numerous times with no success <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> ).

It was working <i>fine</i> 3 days ago. The only program installed recently was starcraft!

I reset my rules in WinXP SP2 firewall, and even manually added ports. Still no luck!?

Apparently defiance and his clan members are having simliar problems.

    Steam appears to be down. Their forums are down too.

    It's just down... there were dozens of threads about it in the steam forums for the few seconds they haven't been down too...

    ok... it seems then, with more clarifacation, that it isnt a client-related issue.

    But from what i have seen on irc...many others can still play ns!?

    seems like only some authentification servers are down or something... you could still go in offline mode, unless you just formatted your computer and reinstalled steam a few minutes ago... like me!

    it will probably be all up and running tomorrow, but for now... -1 point for steam <img src='http://forums.caleague.com/style_emoticons/cal/ph34r.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    I'm not sure if I really understand your question, but if you are asking how to make a desktop shortcut for NS, then it only takes a few small steps.

    Open up the play games window, right-click on natural-selection (located under '3rd party games' heading), and click on 'make desktop shortcut' (I'm not sure if thats the particular phrase, but something along those lines).

    Now you will have a desktop shortcut for NS.

    I checked this morning. Steam seems to be functioning fine now.
