One Thing I Can't Seem To Find Anywhere

<div class="IPBDescription">what *is* that icon?</div> Ok, I haven't been marines yet, only aliens, so I don't know if they see the same icons as the aliens.

But one icon I could never figure out, and I can't find in the manual or on any web site, is the one that shows up on tunnel entrances and on computer panels sometimes that looks like a sparky mushroom cloud with a line through it.

    That's the help icon for weldables.

    You can turn those off by entering cl_autohelp 0 in the console.

    why would you weld a computer monitor? what's that accomplish?

    Probably because it is encased in steel, or to open a passage, somethin. All of em have functions, mostly buttons, usually to doors and vents, they are good. When I heard of welding doors, Iwas thinkin alot different, this sorta dissapointed me, but hey, it is anothe thing to do that mostly people forget.

    I love welding those consoles, esp on the ns_hera. There are quite a number of these laid out all over the map. This is one map where welders have great value. And yes what vangor says is true. to activate them after welding them open. "use" it and u will hear some vent close up, or a security door. One vent close up is another route cut off by those pesky skulks <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Tis true, when a marine cuts off my fav route straight into their base it really annoys me

    This is a very original detail of the game that I like a lot because it brings different strategies for players. A commonly used passage for a hulk suddenly welded makes the game more interesting for the aliens have too find another route.

    I though of a cool idea although the dev team already made my idea. I was thinking of a map where the marines must unweld a doorway at the far corner of the map and they have some objective to complete by unwelding or welding a door closed. Like a secondary objective other than anniahlate aliens. For instance in one scenario, the marine team must weld closed a hole blasted intot he side of a spaceship hull or something in order to complete their objective.
