Gorge Aniamtion In Maya

"Modify the Gorge "forward_die" animation such that the gorge finishes on his back."

I work i boardcast can some one help me with this task...i dont want to apply but would like to have a go at the task. where do i start....theres the gorge mdl file....how do i unwrap this to get access to ther actual files i can load into my application (prefrably MAYA 5)....then how to implament the new animation.....can some one please explane for give me or some kind of guide on how to do this...i want to expend my skill set from just video work.
