is it doing this on every server?
is it also kicking other people?
Also you perhaps could have a bad install of ns, I never encountered thsi problem before, but if no one else replies to this and cant help you just reinstall. It fixes all the problems lol
No idea it just started happening suddenlt when i started playing again - yes iv done spyware/adware/viris scans <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
It now crashes on game joins most of the time, Iv managed to get into one or two servers, and on every map change.
Iv manaaged to get around the map change problem by disconecting from the server before the map change and reconecting, but again it crashes sometimes.
Before I uninstalled I copied the exact gamefiles to a backup PC and it runs fine all the time, no issues <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

It didnt hate my 9800 Pro.....
Yeh its the last bit of the change too, parsing data or something, id check beta 6 but my main PC is dead (see OT) and itl be a while before i get it back up.
The description of Ricktastic exactly fits to my problem. I'm able to join one server after starting the game, but if I disconnect and want to join another server, or the server I am connected to is doing a mapchange, it crashes at "Parsing game info." I then have to start the Windows Task-Manager and kill the hl.exe process in order to be able to play one round again.
My system:
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro
512 MB DDR RAM
Windows XP Pro
Hope somebody can help me.
Can you list your hardware please, since KiddiKai has a similar system to me (AMD CPU and ATi graphics card) if you have only one of these components then we know better where the problem is caused.
Yeah, sure.
1.3GHz AMD Athlon
256MB DDR Ram
GeForce2 MX400 64MB (Driver version 66.93)
Windows XP Home SP2
Some SoundBlaster card, it says SBPCI in Device Manager.
And my entire Steam install is on an NTFS partition, while windows itself is stuck on Fat32.
Wonder if it could be something to do with the mobo, possible drivers, but again Im unable to check this until I fix the PC itsself.
Can you two try updating your mobo drivers along with every other driver you can find to see if this has any effect.
EDIT:
Also if your ingame and you change a setting in options does it crash, I seem to remember this happening a few times to me.

I'll check that in a few. My entire Steam install buggered up. I can't play any HL games without it freezing up at the game's BG screen (like, with the two marines in NS) with the BG music going. The little text options like Find Servers, Create Server, etc.. never appear. Yay. //sarcasm.
AMD Athlon XP 2000
nVidia GeForce4 MX 440
512 MB DDR RAM
CMedia CMI8738 onboard sound
Windows XP Pro
But we all DO have Athlons....
If it works, open up console and there should be little warnings about not being able to find certain sound files.
Iv tried a few re-installs including deleting the entir directory.
Does anyone know if NS has any files it uses outwith the NS folder.
Pentium 4 2.60g
512mb Ram
Geforce MX5200
And disconnecting doesnt help me, I can disconnect to join a new server and it does the same thing, "Parsing info or what not" sticks on it.
So far possible steps for a fix are:
1. Reinstall NS
2. Try again
3. Delete the NS directory
4. Install NS
4. Try again
5. Wait till we can figure out whats wrong.
Iv been doing some mock exams this week and wont be really free till tomorow afternoon to try a few things out.
On the plus It doesnt seem to happen with beta 6 so its probably already been fixed in passing, or the bug was removed accidentaly.
