<div class="IPBDescription">I'll miss spamming that 50 times over...</div> I was going to write a very sarcastic post about the vet icons being removed, but I realized that I can't jump out and insult the devs and admins without knowing the full story. So what's the deal with removing them? All Zero said in his post was that they aren't a part of the new reorg, or some such.

Not that it matters, but I liked the vet thing. I liked playing with old vets late at night on all the cool servers that don't block scripts. But then again, it seemed like the vets weren't around too much anyway. And with servers being dominated by 14 year old ritalin addicts, this icon removal seems an endorsement of this new trend and the extinction of the wise, intelligent player.

Why alienate your old fans?

I believe there just wasn't any point in adding them. Vet status did nothing for you, anymore, sinc ethe vet program is gone.

Do you remember the massive bandwith issues we had in the first days after site release? Well, they could've been a lot worse had Flayra not done a lot of optimization beforehand, and if you have a thousand essentially meaningless IDs that are sent out with every server-authentication and try to optimize a system, you'll soon reach certain conclusions. You're free to write a nasty and sarcastic post about this (provided it doesn't violate forum rules, of course), but consider that these icons were given freely, as was this game, by the same man who pays the bandwith bills, who was also the person making the decision of now removing them.

It didn't help anything, and at times it hurt, whenever people saw the icon they assumed the guy behind it was either a 1)asshat, 2)stacker, or 3)both. There's no need for anything that can be an excuse for prejudging a player.

good pont, i dont like seeing that in a server either personally, and every1 always yells stacker whenever 2 or more vets are on the same team, i sure could live without that

See Scythe, that's the image that the <i>minority</i> of vets created, and it stuck to the <i>majority</i> of vets. Which is why the tainted symbol has been removed.

well i like it, the removal of all the morons that snagged the vet icon with the clan tourny thing and went around acting like they own the world and making all the good vets look bad outways the good vets that lost their icons

The vet icon has been meaningless ever since the program was expanded for the 2.1/3.0 private beta. At that point, the only requirement to be a "veteran" was that you read the front page once in a while, and were either in a clan(any clan) or started one to get into the beta. The requisite number of weekly scrims for vet status was never even enforced. The icon didn't mean anything anymore, and it was a waste of bandwidth to maintain it.

I'm glad you don't have a superiority complex.

Anyhow, I don't really think it matters. A small group of the old veterans that had the icon actually helped, but for the majority it was an icon with no meaning. They were initially left as a "thank you" symbol, but as it stands it's history and if their presence is going to cause issues with ongoing development, is it worth it?

Have the players changed now that their icon is gone? They're still veterans in their own right.

Even though being in one of those clans that got the free vet icon. We sure followed all the rules even though they were never ever enforced. It was what, 2 scrims a week maximum? (Shady Memory) We did about 5 a day every day for about 6 months straight.

So trying to act like all the vet icon people were absolute idiots makes me think that you yourself is a poo head. Because not *all* of us were the "OMG BETTER THAN YOU, RAWR HOULIER THAN THOU" as many of you think :/

I think we all know this boils down to icon envy. PS: if I send Flayra $200 instead of $20, can I get an icon that flashes like it has invincibility and shoots little bullets of it's own and stuff cuz I think that would be tops.

Actually uhh, I guess the best thing about the icons were that they were useful for identifying certain types of players. Useful in that you could avoid or pursue at your liesure.
