<div class="IPBDescription">Includes ingame screenshots</div> I kind of hijacked a thread in the mapping forum (naughty) with this 512x512 version of wall_lab I'm making. Thought it would be best to make a seperate thread for it.

Original version of Wall_lab:

<img src='http://img73.exs.cx/img73/3944/walllaboriginal8bv.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

This is the latest update to the texture. This is the one seen ingame. I actually really like this version, because it looks more metallic. The previous versions were rather washed out.

<img src='http://img105.exs.cx/img105/7329/walllabcopy7qh.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Tada!

<img src='http://img148.exs.cx/img148/6757/lab18rm.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Metal properties in action..

<img src='http://img142.exs.cx/img142/4818/labshoot5kd.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Normal mapping. (Note how the bolt looks 3D) Image brightened up a bit.

<img src='http://img142.exs.cx/img142/7569/normal6jh.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

edit:

Oh yes, there is also specular mapping, which reflects the cubemaps and gives the texture a slight metallic sheen to it, but its only really noticeable when moving.

    Norn, what did you use to make a normal map? I searched, but I only found 1 decent tutorial, and that required for me to buy a program.

    I don't think this texture needs to be this big. Just double the original resolution, as I think the detail in this one isn't that necessary (you're not going to go around staring at the ground). Very sexy work by the way. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Don't these textures have too much shadowing if they are going to have bump-maps on them later on?

    Norm, for the Pre/Selection movie, I had retouched a bunch of textures by mainly re-sizing and clarifying them, but I also created specular, bumpmaps and illuminating materials for them. My bumpmaps are sort of grayscaled so converting them to Normal maps should be too hard to do.

    I would be happy to share them with the community.

    By the way, does HL2:Source handles the transparency the same way as in HL ?

    Pure Blue=transparency region ?

    I had to change that color so Max handles it ok.

    In the mean time, I'll set up the transfer of my textures and PM you with the details.

    I zipped what I have done so far. It's a 49Meg Zipped file with over 280 files in it. I don't have diskspace on a server to put it in. I have access to a web mail with attachment of 50Meg max.

    Supernorn, you're kicking it <img src='http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andrew.wilkinson37/gfx/smiley/rock.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

    I wanna start mapping myself for source, but i can't seem to find a good idea for a map

    One things sure, i'll try mapping for NS:S once it's coming along better

    Keep up the great work !

    but all i can say is one thing.... darkati is gonna have something stuck up his poop shoot if he doesn't stop mapping like a genious lol.

    they look grey but in reality there is an alpha channel that makes them transparrent.

    Fantastic!
    How exactly are you re-making the textures?
    I'd like to see what some of the control panel textures look like...
    EDIT: I'd like to help out with this. I have Photosop 7, and a drawing tablet.

    Yeah, I'd be interested in helping out with this, i'm just not very experienced in how to add clarity or definition to a resized texture. I have The GIMP, and I'm pretty good at using it, but I don't think I can use the NVIDIA normal map generator unless i have PhotoShop.

    Any tips or links to helpful tutorials would be very appreciated.

    Supernorn, have you downloaded my zipped textures ?

    That space used for it was supposed to be temporary. I must know so I can clear it out.
