<div class="IPBDescription">Please Help</div> Hi guys
I got a nice new box this week
amd 64bit 3000, 1gb ddr ram windows 2003 standard in telehosue london ona ncie 100mb network card.

However, it is causing problems and i dunno why.

Everyone is getting:

NET_GetLong: Ignoring duplicated split packet 1 of 3 ( 1391 bytes )
NET_GetLong: Ignoring duplicated split packet 2 of 3 ( 1391 bytes )
NET_GetLong: Ignoring duplicated split packet 3 of 3 ( 155 byte

throughout a game

This is fine for broadband players but any 56kers are getting 2k+ pings making the game unbearable.

This is happening in both ns and my css server running on the same box.

Server ips: 82.138.247.145:27015 and 82.138.247.145:27020
More info:
each server is fully updated and is running amxmodx. Each server has its own install of hlds
Each server has been set to run as a service using firedaemon.
Configs are practically the same as my other server that is running fine.

I just cant work it out <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

My server hsot ( urbangamer.co.uk) managed to track down the cause.

Seems HLDS and SRDS is not fully compatible with windows 2003. Running the servers in compatibility mdoe fixes these errors.

Might have to do with QoS settings in the TCP stack. But that's just a wild guess.

not an ideal solution to use compatibility mode, but it seems to work fine ^_^

still trying to track down what exactly causes the issue, definatly steam related

    What's your sv_minrate and sv_maxrate?
  • BryBry Join Date: 2003-01-23 Member: 12609Members
    sv_maxrate "25000"
    sv_minrate "2500"

Try removing the minrate, and set your maxrate to 9000. Really if they are sucking up more then 9K a second something is wrong.

changing them doesnt appear to have any effect on the problem im afraid

its not as far as i can tell a steam or ns problem as it affects 2 ns servers a cs:s server.
They have been reinstalled 3 times and tried starting from gui with no config files changed or any mods/plugins added.

I don't think it's a steam or NS problem, I think it's a problem with something on your end. I do not have those issues nor do the vast majority of server admins out there. If something was wrong with NS or HLDS people would be screaming bloody murder. I think you need to look closer at your network, your system and your configurations.
