[req]maps With Civilians!

I love all the NS maps, but the one thing that's lacking is the Civis!!

the TSA goes in for protection...so where are the civilians they're protecting? NS_Siege007 has barny, so I don't see why these places don't have civilians you have to protect (that'd be an interesting new feature for NS....protect the civilians, or get the civilians to safty)

Welp...time to go back blasting karahh scum <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo-->

There is this really cool game called Counter Strike. Well, it's not that cool. But seriously though, I don't really see a point other than screwing up the gameplay in a horrible way. These "hostages" either will be completely forgotten or be used in one or another way to rape the gameplay.

It's just a really bad idea overall. You do realise it's not really up to the mappers, do you? You would've been better off in the I&S forum. Well, maybe not. As it's still a dumb idea, no matter where you post it. IF this idea actually were to be used, all the mappers would have to do is place some "hostage" ents (and almost completely re-build the map in order not the screw up the gameplay). You'll need models, new code and other crap.

You've won the "worst idea of the year" award. Already.

    probably

*ignoring the flame for a second*
wouldn't scientists make more sense than civilians, since i doubt that civilians would have much contact with aliens

uhm..the areas have been completely evacuated, before the TSA is going in! If there are any humans they are dead for sure or just 1 guy survived..

    -edit-
don't compare the TSA with the TSA Frontiersmen!
The frontiersmen were especially found to fight the kharaa! So it's a special unit owned by the TSA. The regular TSA forces have nothing to do with fighting the kharaa.

civilians and scientists should have enough time to hide in the beginning since the kharaa detect humans as easily in the beginning without upgrades

I'm a little sketchy on my memory of backstory for NS, but I think the TSA forces don't show up until a while after any crew would have escaped or died. I always thought this was why the aliens only had one hive and skulks when the round starts. They've cleaned out the base/ship/whatever and gone into a sort of hibernation. The marines punching through the nano-gridlock to phase down the first round of troops wake the hive up, and it starts producing skulks. If anyone was still around, obviously the aliens would have all the res capped up and there would be fully upgraded high level aliens roaming the halls. But if no one's there, the chambers, nodes, and aliens are reabsorbed into the hive and it goes to sleep.

hmm...has anyone of you read the story "Monster"? there it said that the bacteria killed evrything in a slow process before the first Hives grow at this planet/station.

Frontiersmen are immun to these bacteria due to some medical stuff (dunno the name of it). This would explain why there are no survivors in the ns maps.

thats a multiplayer mod, you know? ever saw a multiplayer mod capable of single player "action"?

the entities to create any kind of npc or sequence had been removed from the fgd for a purpose, although removin sequences wasnt a wise decision in my eyes...

sorta like Newt? Maybe, I dont see how it could be implemented unless it was single player, and that would be cool, no doubt....

Tell that to the end of the Korean beta also I don't feel like starting over in the european beta to be robbed of me lvls and equipment <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Nah I'm waiting for the real thing to hit the shelves here in Dutchland

Back on topic, even if it's an unpopular one:

Newt would be detected by the hive I think, I pitty them aliens from the alien movies since they don't have an all seeing hive.

Another thing, this would need code side work from the devs, I say let them figure out how to get ns over to hl2, go Flayra, artsquirrels and codemonkeys!

Say rescuing scientists was an accepted idea, how would the marine team go about saving them in the first place. The Kharaa dont leave anyone alive so how could you explain them surviving for so long.
Also the objective of the Aliens would be a TS style stop the marines from taking the hossi...'ahem' scientists to the rescue point.
Why would they even attempt to stop them, they would be torn apart just like everyone else if not more so since they are unarmed scientists.
