i have a sparc!
I dunno if its possible even with normal halflife,

but i'm one of those crazy people who owns a SParc IIi 500Mhz with 512mb edo ram, its totally different from normal x86 cpu (amd/intel), just wondering is it possible to run NS on it? Or rather, is there any source files for the server that i can compile for sparc?

I'm sure this is relevant for those who have MAC too, as they can compile to mac as well i assume...

thanks

I doubt Flayra has access to a SPARC with which to compile a copy of NS on.

In addition to this, you would require a 64 bit SPARC version of HLDS which ain't gonna happen. I've asked Valve before for an Alpha and SPARC version. Just isn't reality I guess.

I'd live to run a HLDS on a few sparcs but VALVe is in control of the HLDS server builds but alas have shown no interest in building a compatible server for that platform.

dang.. that means i just downloaded the SDK's for nothing, i though it could have the HDLS source on it! oh well, i suppose i'll just have to use my duron for the.. and just get the sparc to forward the ports or osmething..

Actually, now that i have the SDK's, i may do crash course on C++, 'borrow' someones bot AI and make a NS bot! It'll be an achievement just to allow a bot to spawn .. all cause i'm a Visual Basic boy

Any problems with running NS on a UltraSparc running Linux, outside of no 64-bit support?

Yeah the main problem is that you need a SPARC compatable HL server files. VALVe is in control of that and, like it was said before, they have no interest in supporting another server playform. They support Linux and Win32 currently.
