    NS:S will be a port from the HL engine to the HL2 engine.

    NS2 comes after NS1 (duh <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    From the old radio interview,

    Natural-Selection one is the first encouter. Natural-Selection two is <i>the war.</i>

    Btw where is this thread I'm hearing so much about?

    Just because it is a sequel doent mean it has to be the same game. Use your imagineation. Think vehicles, outdoor battles, multiple commanders, new liforms, new new new. If it would just be a rehash, then wouldnt really be worth making.

    So let me get this straight. They are still planning on making NS2 or NS:S? So when these come out we can't download it we will have to buy it from stores or something? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    NS2 will be 50$ retail game. Whole new game.

    NS:S will be free mod. This is basicly NS with Source engine.

    Don't expect anyone of these before 2006 so you're not dissapointed. NS2 will take even longer.

    actually he said ns2 will run on a new-generation engine, like hl2 & ut3 <u>for example.</u> I persume they would rather use/modify existing one, than write a completely new one.
    but than again... who knows?

    Wow thats pretty cool so there might be a single player for NS2? I would get both if they EB games would get retail for NS2 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> hope there is map where the marines crash landed on a planet and they have to fight in a open area instead of a space base that be fun although hard.

    Notice it was stated that they do NOT know what engine they are going to use for NS2. You can't spread rumors saying they're using Source.

    It might turn out that they really don't like source at all and don't use the engine, instead use like the new Quake engine or something
  • NoirNoir Join Date: 2005-01-08 Member: 33922Members
    either way there still gonna make a great mod so who cares what engine they use even without source engine the game rocked.

    NS2 = $50 price tag or more.
    NS:S = Free and potential of being boxed to sell, just for the convience, I would just love to see it boxed anyways.

    Amen.

    Though, I have yet to finish my donation of $50, I've only got the minimum $20 in at the moment. I need to do that second half- I've spent more time playing NS than all my MMORPGs combined!

    SLOOOW DOWN FOLKS! They're just now diving into the Source SDK to see how long it will take and to see what they can do with all the tools and stuff. Don't expect anything till late this year or Spring next year. Remember, NS took years to get out to us. The coding yeah they can transfer over with little problems but they're gonna need to retexture and reanimate and add all kinds of features for NS:S to be a blast. It's gonna take a lot of work but im sure these guys can do it.

    NS2. Think YEARS for that one. I think for that one they should go for UT3 engine cause that's just gonna take a hell of a long time to get up and running and sold. So don't be counting the days canuse you'll be counting a lot of them.

    Will they keep updating NS : S though? Since Source offers more classes and weapons than Hl1 engine or will they stop working on NS : S and focus fire on NS2 (If They decide to work on NS : S )

    NS2 won't be done by the same dev team that NS is being done by I think - so with that in mind, I'd assume that NS (Or NS:S if it gets ported) will continue to be patched until they all move on or decide against it.

    OMG, it's MonsE!!

    Please just read my <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com' target='_blank'>front page news update</a>, I think it makes most of this clear.

    The dev teams for NS and NS2 will eventually be totally separate, so both will continue to be updated for the years to come.

    NS2 will be a totally new game and will have both single-player and multi-player. It's going to be a much bigger 'leap forward' then NS was.
