Hello.

Can anybody recommend a good headset (MUST BE USB OR FIREWIRE) that will let me speak to the humans on NS and play all of the games' music and sounds (i.e. all sound from headset, no sound from PC speakers).

    What is your price range?

I would highly recomond <a href='http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=26-106-381&depa=1' target='_blank'>these</a>, but they are rather expensive, so you might want to go for something more like
    <a href='http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=26-106-379&depa=1' target='_blank'>this.</a>

Edit: Just to be clear these are usb, but can be use in regular jacks too, see <a href='http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?style=album' target='_blank'>these pictures</a> to undertand what I mean.

As many have suggested to me, buy a hat, tape, and a cheap $12 microphone.

Tape the microphone to your hat and BOOM got a headset.

I advise you not to buy a cheap headset. Mine broke within a couple of weeks.

I'd ideally prefer to spend a bit less than the Sennheiser price range, but if absolutely everything that's cheaper than those are dire then I'll have no option.

I just read it as "USB headcrabs"

I clearly need to get out more

recently my headset broke and I had to get a new one. I went for a logitech usb headset, and.. well returned it the next day. sound quality really sucked. and that headset was 50 euros :/
so I kinda don't recommend the ones from logitech
