Grrr... Credit Card Fraud

Owned by not wearing glasses
So, yea, I was gonna buy HL2 via steam. I'm feeling sick, migrane with sensitivity to light to be exact, and I have the lights dim and my glasses off.

So, I am absolutly positive that I typed everything in correct.

However, I get the message that the info is incorrect and also mentioned that Valve does go after Credit Card Fraud people with the full extent of the law.

What should I do?

It was nice knowing you, we'll miss you.

Seriously though, i put down my current address when filling it out, so now i gotta go to the bank and change my billing address so i don't run into a similiar situation. If things come to worse, will you be my cell mate?

Sure Symbiote. But I get bottom bunk.

Should I call up Gabe and have him fix it?

Snap...if my parents get some sort of call from the cops...gonna make dad look bad...he works for Gov't...

GD...I even made a trek into the rain and cold to see if I had money at the local ATM on campus.

GG Valve. I love you too.

Preloading was already done, but I try to buy it today and it first rejects the credit card , then crashes, then loses the saved password and refuses to accept it again. Then password retrieval sends me an email, but hotmail won't let me get into the account where it was sent (completely unrelated ot Steam but it's basically the icing on the cake). So in desperation I try to create a new account, but can't get through, instead it gives me a 'connection reset by peer' message.

I've decided to stop trying and just sit around festering for a while. I'm going to try again at 3:00am tonight. Aww, who am i kidding. I'm gonna go try again right now.

But I guess the point is that there's no way they're coming after you. I mean, their software sporked up so they're at fault, and furthermore, they're going to have so many bad credit cards that there's no way they can go after everyone.

You have a migrane, with light sensitivity. And yet you expect to be staring at that computer screen of yours for the next half-dozen Half-Life2 hours.

    GG.

    Ok...finally logged in.

    No confirmation notice.

Should I try ordering again or what?

Oh, and I was planning on sleeping while it dls any updates. Duh...I'm not gonna play with a migrane right now. The only thing I want to see is the insides of my eyelids.

Don't worry about the credit card fraud warning. One or 2 bad entries isn't something they're going to worry about. 100 or 200 are though (so be careful )

As for re-ordering it, it depends on whether you rather have to dispute 2 charges, or whether you would rather have HL2 right NOW. Keep in mind that reordering may cause the same problem again, and that the problem may be fixed later. Personally, I would wait a while just to make sure its not a problem that they're fixing (and thereby process all the orders later).

I would agree, nothing will happen unless you try a few hundred more times

Dude, planning ahead is an advanced skill mastered by only the few, the proud, the mighty. Most of us just live by the moment. Long term decisions? Pshaw! I'll deal with everything when I have no other option or method of prolonging the wait!

From reading the Steam forums, it seems that they only go after people that tried 10+ time. Also, the people that they've shut down account for also used grossly different names an info for each try.

    You should be fine.
