    My computer will barely run HL2... just over the 1.2 mark and a R9000 =(

    I will not even think of buying HL2 until I have a computer that will actually run it smoothly.

    How crappy computers are you guys talking about here? The Source engine scales really far down and still looks reasonable. I was playing CS:S on a Geforce3 earlier, and I'm guessing it dropped the settings near the bottom but I was getting 100+ FPS... Doom 3 is nothing but bloatware compared to HL2.

    @__@

    How is that not going off topic...

    And why <s>my</s> <i>this</i> thread of all the places. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Most of the people in here can't even help you because they can't play the game. :cry: Go to one of the other 11 HL2 threads, they are sure to be able to help you.

    --------------
    Zek, if a Geforce 3 is the minimum, then I sure as hell can't run it.

    Yup. Mine could do with a better video card and perhaps 1GHz more processing power. I can probably run HL2, but probably not very well.

    Fortunately I've got the money to upgrade and as soon as I get a consistent answer to what video card I should buy, I'm going to <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    [edit]Actually, apparently I do satisfy the minimum requirements but not the recommended. My machine's a 2GHz, 512mb RAM, Geforce 4 MX. So I guess it would probably run ok-ish with graphics details turned down[/edit]

    Are you going to upgrade your CPU, mobo and ram signifigantly too? If not, just get a Radeon 9600 and suck up the no AA and AF for the advantage of DX9 support.
